At least it’s red listed now and surge postcode testing can get under way (it’s going to happen shortly as reported on BBC online). Delhi has begun its lockdown which will help in the meantime until Friday when India as a whole’s U.K. red listing is implemented.

Hopefully the test that can detect the variant if it’s positive won’t be a long wait.
Well I'm indeed from Friday... Still it's a week too late and India has fitted the criteria to be on our the red list for a.week. What's the point of red lists with no red lines.

U.K. vaccines ... 373 K jabs yesterday (of which 274K were second doses).....total first doses 33.032.120.....total second vaccines 10,425,790......giving an overall total of 43,457,910....slow but steady....

It’s mad how quiet this thread is since the news of the super league broke.

I’m not being dismissive when I say this but I honestly wouldn’t even know we were still in a pandemic the way the media coverage has shifted since Sunday.

Don`t worry mate, just wait until we get the first confirmed fatality from the Brazilian, Indian, South African variant ................ insert country here and it`ll coming roaring back to life.

SHUT DOWN THE WORLD NOW.

Hospital figures - 36 deaths were announced today, up 33 on yesterday and up 1 on last Tuesday. 34 deaths were in English hospitals, up 33 on yesterday and up 1 on last week. The 7 day rolling average rises slightly to 24.43

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 33 deaths were announced today, up 29 on yesterday and up 10 on last Tuesday. The 7 day rolling average rises slightly to 26.29

There has been no data reported today for the 60 day cut off

With the lack of testing this is probably a large undercount, some awful reports coming out of India currently

Comparably to the UK population that is similar to us having 15,000 new cases in a day, which we exceeded. Our peak was just under 70,000 in one day. That's the equivalent of India having nearly 1.5 million new cases in a day.. Figures need to be compared properly and not made out to try and scare people..

Difference is India are testing a fraction of the quantity that we do. Tests quantities barely matter the positive percentage does. When I last looked its around 30% in Delhi. 19m people with a 30% positive rate. It's probably fair to estimare that it is worse there now than our peak.
