Why exactly has it been a disaster? Because of a few minor cases of clotting? When Pfizer and now J&J have reported the same, should they be binned off too?
I'm saying that in normal times it would never have been licensed. Theyld have had the time to pick this side effect up and then dealt with it.

There's no point in denying that. I pick on AZ because in terms of incidences this is the one that has been the problem with rare cerebral thrombosis.

Disaster. You need to watch your mouth and be really careful on how you portray something your not overly familiar with. Don't talk so irresponsibly.

You could stop someone on here going for there jab with such loose lips.

I have nothing to be quiet about thanks. You're not the only one to have taken it. There's 20 million of us. Perhaps the scientists who are declaring the problems with itr need to keep their mouths shut too. Would you like that too?

How can you possibly label something that is saving lives a disaster.

Unfortunately agree, increasing vaccine supply to those Michigan areas (assuming uptake) would make a difference in the long term but absent it being used in combination with NPIs like stopping indoor dining and increased mask use you’d still see quite a lot of the case rise - exponential growth is darn powerful.

Will admit I’m not clear on what is happening with Texas, overall state numbers seem OK but a very localized outbreak in the northern area - any idea @BlueTX ?
Honestly, I do not know. What I do know is that wifey and I are on the way to get our second Pfizer shot and grateful for it!

I said "it's been rolled out to effect". I never said it wasn't a success in that respect. But as stated, if this wasn't an emergency it never leaves the lab. 100%. And I'd be very surprised if anyone else here disagreed with that statement.

its so difficult to decide whether this is evil Trump trying to wreck the vaccine rollout or bent Trump moaning because the money he has in J&J might not return what he thought
Tbh I’d bet on c) Trump was upset that FDA couldn’t be pressured into rushing approval of Pfizer vaccine to give him a boost on election day and so venting his spleen at anyone related with that vaccine.

Disagree here Dave - if the incidence is the worst case number reported far , 1 in 100,000, you’re unlikely to pick that up in a trial as even if you had a case or two the numbers would be too small to be statistically significant. Iirc the Pfizer trials for instance had 40,000 people of which half got the placebo.

If there is a particular segment that it effects (say younger women 20 to 35) there may be more chance if the trial group was skewed to that group but they usually try to recruit a broad spectrum. Given, as we’ve frequently discussed, AZ didn’t pick up enough old people in their trials those trials may have actually been more likely to detect the impact than Pfizer but the numbers would still have been very small to nonexistent.

U.K. vaccines....261K yesterday (including 201K second jabs)....total first jabs 32,250,481....total second jabs 7,857,396....giving an overall total of 40,107,877.... the daily total, seems way down tbh, I hope it’s not due to our friends in Europe.....

You labelled it the disaster vaccine.
