Welcome back Wayne
If only everybody had the same concern about an actual pandemic thats killed 2.8 million people eh?
Or where and how it originated.....

Today is a disaster for the world's response to this virus and, in my view, completely unnecessary.
I have no problem with clots being listed as a rare side effect, but to limit the use of the AZ vaccine in a certain age group means confidence in it will plummet now.
Can see that argument but as an under 30 myself my chances of dying of Covid is very low also.
I would still take AZ myself like but I think its understandable by the authorities whilst they investigate further.
More than likely it will change again before we get to that age group its changing of messages all the time with the vaccines certainly with the EU.
Not as much, because they haven't had the same problems in anything like the same volume.I too think that is fair enough. Do you have any concerns about any other vaccine even though they too have similar side effects......
Are they being ignored or simply less frequent than with AZ? Genuine question. Personall I agree with those above that if the risk of suffering with Covid is lower than dying from the vaccine then it makes sense to pause it, or make it conditional on a consultation with a doctor before proceeding. People have compared it to the contraceptive pill but it's necessary to consult a doctor and get a prescription before taking it.It doesn't matter now, the confidence in it for all age groups will be shot.
For nothing. There's been clotting incidents in Pfizer/Moderna shots too, completely ignored.

I think the age group determines that. If you're in your 20s or even 30s you'd stand little chance of dying from Covid19. Under those circumstances people will want to swerve the AZ jab. Yes, I know that even these age groups stand more chance of dying from covid19 than a cerebral embolism from a vaccine, but the perception around AZ now - that it is flawed - is too great to ignore by that age group.I agree that the investigation has to go on to clarify exactly what is happening and why.
Once we have a number of different vaccines available, I believe we should identify those most at risk (women of a certain age) of this rare clotting and provide them with a different vaccine. But until this time, we need to continue with the vaccine roll out as planned, because the risk of suffering this rare clotting is heavily outweighed by the risks associated with covid. All those considered higher risk can be educated on symptoms of the clotting and maybe even provided with blood thinning medication for a few weeks to try and pre-empt it.
I believe those countries that have already suspended it's use are actually endangering more lives through covid.

The MHRA press conference on nowWhat's that from?
The MHRA press conference on now
In fairness, that's the slide for low exposure risk - the slide for high exposure was much more weighted in favour of the AZ vaccine. That's the very definition of cherry picking figures. ICU in 16 weeks as an arbitrary figure, against 'serious harms' - that's a nonsense.
A political face-saving exercise to diminish the AZ vaccine.
