The chance of happening is so low, you can't live your life worrying about a less than 0.5% chance of something happening to you mate, you'd live a very sheltered life.

This isn't ablout me isn it? It's about a vaccine that clearly has problems for some people.

Maybe just focus on that?

It goes for anyone mate, wasn't just meaning you. You're worried about something that has so little chance of happening to people that there is no point worrying about it, all medicine is the same, a certain amount of people will have negative effects. So what, not give it too anyone at all so we are all at risk instead of 0.0003888%, can you see how that makes no sense to most people.

"Oxford wanted to distribute the vaccine to everyone, wherever they lived in the world. Early discussions with the UK’s GlaxoSmithKline foundered and more advanced talks with Merck ended, too, on concern that the US drugmaker would not produce enough to supply the developing world and that the White House would not allow the UK to be supplied first. Merck said it has always made its vaccines and therapeutics available to people who need them around the world and its conversations with Oxford ended cordially in late April."

They made a choice to go with a company inexperienced at vaccine production instead.
Don't know where that article is from but it doesn't tell the full story. They wouldn't produce it at cost and offered Oxford 4% royalties as an incentive to chose them.

I'm pointing it out. It's in the news. Scientists are concerned by it. Why wouldn't it be spoken about?

The undercurrent I'm picking up on is that we must all support Astra Zenica because it's what many of us have had, and it's got a connection to a British university and has British capital sunk into it.

I couldn't give a flying one about that. If it's malfunctioning in some way, we need to know about it and they need to find out what it's happening and fix it / determine who's affected by it and avoid giving it to them.

I think that's a fair enough approach, tbh.

If only everybody had the same concern about an actual pandemic thats killed 2.8 million people eh?

What if the fix then causes it to affect a different group, that is very likely to happen as no medicine is perfect ever. I do understand your concern I just don't share it, all medicine has negative effects for a certain number of people, it is what it is. (sorry for crap English, never can decide effect or affect lol)

It needs to be a lot more targetted than that, and so then investigations must continue and ramp up.

If they can state a certain age group and maybe another associated factor then those not getting AZ can be minimized.
CVT occurs normally every year in a very small percentage of people (mainly aged under 50). The incidences of people developing CVT after having the AZ shot do not fall outside the numbers we would expect to see normally.

This is not an issue with the AZ vaccine it’s being driven originally by a political agenda and now being whipped up by the media.

It’s all bullshit and I thought you of all people would be able to see that.

What we can agree on is more important than what we cant: the investigation into AZ must continue and the people their vaccine are damaghing disproportionatley miust be refined in order that they can avoid being given it.
I agree that the investigation has to go on to clarify exactly what is happening and why.

Once we have a number of different vaccines available, I believe we should identify those most at risk (women of a certain age) of this rare clotting and provide them with a different vaccine. But until this time, we need to continue with the vaccine roll out as planned, because the risk of suffering this rare clotting is heavily outweighed by the risks associated with covid. All those considered higher risk can be educated on symptoms of the clotting and maybe even provided with blood thinning medication for a few weeks to try and pre-empt it.

I believe those countries that have already suspended it's use are actually endangering more lives through covid.

And the Rangers are going to be terrible. Imagine putting yourself and your family at risk for that absolute shower, and waiving all liability claims in the process, just to go watch a sport you’re allegedly boycotting because they aren’t as fascist as you.
Metro Dallas in a nutshell.

Not often a betting man but have $100 on the line with a pal that Gov. Abbott knew the All-Star Game was going to be awarded to Denver when he threw his hissy-fit of performative outrage in declining to throw out the first pitch at the Flame Broil Gas Grill Indoor/Outdoor Park over MLB's decision to move the game from Atlanta.

He also sucks.

It kind of does pete - as has been said already, if these problems are concentrated in a particular set of people (ie women between 18 and 55) who also haven’t been getting vaccinated at the rate of people outside that set then we need to know urgently - because that might mean the rate of these serious problems occurring might be much lower than 1 in 600000, or 1 in several million.

EMA saying it is not a particular set of people.....

I too think that is fair enough. Do you have any concerns about any other vaccine even though they too have similar side effects......
