I see Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines and Kenya have been added to the red list countries - adding the first three is going to cause a lot of extra expense for people who probably won't be able to afford it. One would hope they'd have come up with an alternative to the £1500 a person stay at an airside hotel by now.

You have to pay for your own hotel in Australia and New Zealand, as far as I'm aware. Definitely Australia.

You also have to pay £170 per-person for the tests they send out to your home if you arrive back from a non red-list country.

We all called for the border controls. Well, this is it. It might not be right, but it's another deterrent to put people off from travelling.

They have done just over 2.5 million tests, 26 thousand tests per million... hardly mass testing.

We have killed off that many different species and destroyed vast areas of the planet (the oceans are our latest project followed closely by the 2 poles ) that its only a matter of time that we decimate the human population.
If we do not succeed then mother nature will help us out

Getting people to wear masks in winter months and asking people to wash their hands more often would be very simple ways to do that.

Influenza and infectious intestinal disease, across winter months have been extremely low.

Yeah that's what I mean.

But then again, having events, matches on etc - they can't just keep stopping in the winter, and I doubt people going to a gig are gonna be wearing a mask.

But, a lot more people will pop to the shop on average than they will go to a gig or a match, so, target the little every day things and that's probably a sustained way of making a difference.

I can't believe that we have to encourage basic hygiene but, yeah, people are scruffs.

You do, but there are better ways of doing it (certainly there are better ways of doing it that aren't as easily scammed) and the government has been telling people they can travel - including to these places.
