Seems like Germany have identified a trend in a particular cohort:

“Germany’s medicines regulator, the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), has now reported 31 cases of blood clots in people who have received AstraZeneca, Der Spiegel magazine reported on Tuesday.

Almost all cases are reportedly in younger and middle-aged women, prompting several German hospitals to suspend the use of the jab for women under 55 this week.”

It’s pulled from regular use in under 60s in Germany roll out, but you can still elect to get to it, but you have to have a consultation with a medic and an individual risk assessment.

I did stress i knew it would be something like that - it's not the numbers as such, it's that it's from a particular group/age-range.

It's still an extremely strange decision IMO.

But, whatever, each country will do what they see fit. End goal should be vaccinate as quickly as possible, though. Suspending it, even if just for one age group, isn't going to help at all with any uptake issues.

Transmission is reduced. Its not just noble.

And other vaccines also do this. If there is a link (however tentative) at this point between a specific vaccine and serious blood clots occurring in people who are at far less risk from this virus then that warrants investigation, or at the very least it warrants people taking notice and not just dismissing it.

We’ve been in lockdown and had restrictions on our lives for over a year in order to “save lives and protect the NHS”.
Should we not be looking to ensure lives aren’t needlessly lost here?

This story is so big that it's being sat on in the UK. We have seen about 18m-20m(?) AZ vacccine shots in this country and we're supposed to believe what other European nations are finding aren't there in the UK in any numbers that match those other European nations. Where's the investigation of this over here?

Put me in the sceptical column.

It's a case of it's all ok and a bit of a joke on silly foreigners getting their knickers in a twist over "ingerlish vaccine", that's until it happens to someone closer to home.

And statistically this side effect of bleeds on the brain has happened to some people in the UK, if there was a case of a media unbalanced with bias this is it. Many people are asking why this is not being reported...

All under the guise of nanny state knows best, when it suits. No surprises we are have having issue with groups of people not wanting to take any vaccine.

Just really daft in the dangerous sense how vaccines have been politicalised.

I'm just grateful that we have an Opposition party that will demand explanations about these problems and wont back away because they see it as unpatriotic to criticise a national "success" story.

Have noticed in the media AZ is now being referred more as Anglo-Swede vaccine, rather than the Oxford AZ vaccine, imagine there is change in narrative being managed for the sheeple.

They've been distancing Oxford from this for a while...unless it's a good news story on that vaccine, in which case it is a University of Oxford wonder drug.

In the U.S. 22 states where restrictions have been lifted (usually 'red' states) infections are on the rise again - by 30% in some cases.

Forewarned is forearmed.

Over here right now with only minor lifting of restrictions:

"Covid-19 infection rates are still on the rise in 141 places in England, with more than a third of local authority areas reporting increases, new data reveals.

In the week up to March 24, the infection rate went up in 45% of the council areas in England and stayed level in six areas.

In the other 168 areas (54% of the 314 local authority districts in England) the infection rate went down, according to the latest data from Public Health England (PHE).

Yes.

Shocking.
Is that not similar to the number you would expect if you took covid and vaccines out of the equation completely.

Also the risk of getting blood clots once you catch covid is exponentially higher.

And seeing as you claim to be a socialist (I think) I'm surprised that I've never seen any positive comments from you of AZ doing this at cost, whilst supporting all the other (mainly American companies) who are all profit making out of a crisis

Now I'm not a medical expert at all, but younger and middle-aged women are more likely to take the contraceptive pill, correct?

Isn't said pill already know to increase the risk of blood clots, so perhaps there's a link between the two? Not saying it is, but it might be an avenue to look at.
