I think they’re obviously aware of the dangers posed by variants. However I do also think this is a risky strategy as firstly these boosters aren’t expected to be here until September at the earliest, giving time for them to arrive in the UK unless we actually sort out our border control. Secondly, we know immunity from vaccines takes a bit of time to kick in so whilst that coverage may be expedited with a booster, there’s still a window there for people to potentially become ill.

I don’t work in that industry so I don’t want to be flippant and dismissive, but why is not common sense that until globally the virus is suppressed to some degree, foreign holidays (with exemptions of course being allowed so long as sufficient quarantine measures are in place) just shouldn’t take place this summer.

We have to get through the winter of 2021 without a lockdown. Doing anything that doesn’t aid that goal is counter productive.

The tunnel is now owned by France. It’s in deep financial crap. They want the U.K. to chip in to help with £500M that’s needed, the U.K. is saying it’s yours and nothing to do with us. The french are also looking to put in a high speed rail to Spain, costing approx £500M. They are taking the piss. The little Napoleon wants to be seen as Merkels replacement within the Eu, so he’s acting all tough, saying we can’t have any EU vaccine, even though none of it is developed or manufactured by France. My guess is that if Boris helps out Eurostar this will all go away. Just the French being French .....

Ah ok mate, i agree i think the French narrative is unhelpful as we try and find a way forward here, i wondered what the political beef is between the two countries, seems deep. Yesterdays comments, were pointed, purposeful i think intended to be triggering and overall unhelpful.

The UK Virus has one father: Johnson the butcher.

His failure to get a grip of the situation in this country but rather give business and hospitality in particular free rein brought catastrophe not only on this island but on the rest of the world.

How does that vermin sleep at night nowing he's repsonsible for over a million deaths in the second and third waves?

Over a million now. I must have slept longer than I thought.....

The French haven’t forgiven the U.K. for helping to liberate it from Germany. It offends their masculinity. They are only ever really happy when the U.K. does badly, like sibling rivalry. It winds them up even more when we don’t get angry and just ignore them or pat them on the head.....

Seems all so ridiculous, with the significance of issues on the table, not the mention the mutual benefits of close ties between the two countries.

I didnt like those comments yesterday on the second doses, they were strategically political and designed to trigger that narrative in the media on the second dose schedule and supply in the UK, i know i was talking about the other day, but i have an interest in learning and following what the UK are doing and how they are managing it. Yesterday was designed to shine a light on the UK second dose supply chain and plans purposely and put the UK government under pressure, if that narrative is sparked. Some things are all good to politc around, but i thought that issue was less then moral myself. So id be critical of those comments - i hope they came from the French doing a solo run.

As I say, it’s just France, or rather in this case Macron. He likes to think he’s Napoleon but really he’s just a vain and shallow egotistical politician with no real vision or idea. The key issue for the world is production, manufacturing of vaccine, not politicised comments or one eye on next years elections. There really is no other game in town. Move heaven and earth on production. Every country in Europe should be churning the stuff out.....

I wonder is he a bit of vaccine skeptic himself, or and if he needs to be more poloarised and extreme in France with Le Pen breathing down his neck.

Agreed if what i am hearing is right, a deal is close to be struck between the EU and UK on the supply chain. Think it was always going to be sorted diplomatically.

As we were talking about the UK domestic production capacity this week @Barnfred 55 i see the Mail (i know) is reporting the UK domestic AZ production at 2 mill a week.

Seems part of the problem in India's production might be the supply of raw materials from the US and their export ban.

I think that's about right tbf. I can't see it being above 10m pm otherwise I doubt we'd be seeing the shortages we are seeing for April.

Second jab done, yet again efficient work by all the NHS staff working at Anfield. The AZ line was a lot longer than it was when I had my first but it went through super quick and was called over, jabbed and out in next to no time. That’s both me and my mum fully vaxed so now it’s only my sister and brother in law to get their 2 now, they’re down the list so could be waiting till after the supposed slow down

Just an update, on the legal situation between AZ and EU mate, i know you often argue why dont the EU start legal proceedings.

Did you get a chance to do a victory conga around the car park , wearing your Boris Johnson masks ?

It’s going to be treated like the flu jab - that’s all the boosters mean

we have to get back to normality at some stage
