TBF we are all in lockdown, thats the mad thing, i think perhaps things may have been more librel on the main land then they are in Ireland or the UK.
The likes of Italy, Spain and Germany started to relax the lockdown rules in early March as infections started going down. I'm not sure what changes were actually made at that stage. But since doing that the Kent version started to take control across the continent by the sounds of it, so they're now all going through what we've been through since the start of the year. God help them.

Has the Kent strain not found it's way over to Ireland yet?

Do you think it might be fair to say that these repeated lengthy lockdowns were because the government acted slowly in reacting to the virus and enforcing measures, and too quickly in reducing/stopping these measures?

This was a path that was learned after the first SARS outbreak and we should have followed instead of initially modeling against influenza.

The problem is at the start the government's reaction was absolutely laughable but twelve months on we're getting nowhere after 9 months of lockdowns.

Obviously they should have went with a zero covid approach at the start but they never. Life is pathetic now, any normality would be great.

Not really arsed about a big-pharma company

But I am arsed about people not getting vaccinated when they should be
But all this bad press is damaging the reputation of AZ, which is the main vaccine we'll be relying on in the UK to get out of this mess. We're already hearing reports of people walking out of vaccination centres when they're told they'll be getting the AZ version.

Some of the younger population, who may already be questioning whether they need the vaccine anyway as they tend not to suffer badly from the virus, will no doubt take note when France say they're not giving it to under 55s, and the likes of Norway and Denmark are still not using it at all. Talk of European polls saying more than 50% will refuse the AZ version will not help either.

I'm not saying it's a huge problem, because I think most sensible people will understand that the vaccine is the only way this country is opening up again. But I don't believe we should be dismissing the issue out of hand either.

I've heard reports of people refusing the others because they want 'the British one'.

Stupidity comes in many forms.

Wonder what Boris used his 'moment of reflection' on?

Missed COBRA meetings, shaking hands, herd immunity, EOTHO, Barnard Castle, opening schools for a day...
If anything like the Tories I know in reality, it's not fair was supposed to be dealing with Brexit. Who knew running a country was more serious than one issue.

Actually on reflection looks like he has been reflecting on how to extend the COVID powers, now into September, another summer lost, despite as it turns out, not so game changing vaccine program, again he knew.

It's easy to detach yourself from all of this if you keep forgetting that Covid-19 is just nature's way of taking out the thrash.

It's certainly left a scar on me. I've been the one giving other people a wide berth, in normal times it's the other way around.

Whats mad is as much as I miss going out the thought of certain things that once never bothered me has me a little anxious - that last packed train home from Manchester on a saturday night or being squished in at a bar trying to get served.

Will get back in the habit of things but its certainly a strange time

Honestly mate I don't think vaccine uptake is going to be an issue here at all.

The younger generation - my generation - by and large will be happy to take it.

Tell us that it will let us go to the pub, footy or gigs again, and we'll be racing to the front of the queue! ;)

You're talking drivel

It's easy to want lockdown to continue in perpetuity when you're not worried about your employment.

It reflects more what this country has now become: a spiv economy full of rubbish low paying jobs. The young predominating amongst them is a byline.
