Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Something seriously wrong in England, much higher rates in Scotland and Wales with vaccine compliance, less individualist mind set I would argue, also finger wagging on much put upon care setting won't win hearts and minds . And odd one to single out "care homes", considering how big health and social care is. Should be looking right across all settings if dictatorial is England's way.

The Oxford vaccine is a great vaccine - I've always said it. I think that is beyond question.

I can distinguish between the Oxford vaccine and AZ as a company.

AZ have been very sloppy throughout this as a partnering company and this is just another example, i think its to big of a job for them, they are continuously dropping the ball.

Are you and Davek doing a double act here. AZ is not some corner shop that just sprung up....

I think you also said that the Sputnik V is similar but better. In which case shouldn’t the EU be clamouring for its acceptance and rollout....

This is a difficult one.
If I was a resident in a care home or I had any of my parents in a care home I would hope that the staff looking after me or them had been fully vaccinated.
My mates wife is the manager of a big care home near Bradford and 40% of the care staff refused point blank to have the vaccine. So what do they do? They can't just sack them as they are not easy to replace. It's one thing introducing a policy from a high level but its another making it work on the ground.

I always struggle to comprehend your posts having to reread them a couple of times before I can make head nor tail of them. Almost like writing in riddles.

I did understand it after reading the article but would have struggled without that

Saving lives will be the justification for further lockdowns. Johnson would win an election today despite 125,000 deaths. You see it in this thread, people are generally scared and will comply with lockdowns. Personally I've just realised its time to adjust to the 'new normal' and just admit that lockdown is life now.

Elimination strategies are impossible. Never going to happen.
There’s nothing “normal” about a “new normal” at all and I will never accept this.

Hence the article link. Gold star for you. I don't really read your posts past 2 sentences, invariably Anglo Tory Centric... Never save to assume but won't be holding my breath.:)

It's not what you say but that they're incomprehensible that's the problem. If you comment before linking an article, it's good to make the comment understandable on its own too.

It is difficult, but actually in cases like this they certainly should be told take the jab or walk. Care homes exist for the benefit of the residents, not the staff. Everyone involved in healthcare and social services should have the jab or find another profession. I appreciate the thought that staff may be difficult to replace, but certainly not impossible, and I would also doubt just how many of them actually walk when push comes to shove.....
