The EU looked to be up scaling their efforts to hinder the UK when they moved last night to ban all vaccine exports to the UK, including vital drug ingredients made in Holland used to produce the AZ vaccine.
The Dutch factory has not made an export request or have regulatory approval to supply the EU but they're still imposing an export ban in an effort to make Britain release AZ's British sites from any contractual issues to supply them.
Vaccine wars are escalating - a senseless way to fight a pandemic.
Noone is blameless but the problems with the vaccine program across so many RU countries has ramped up the pressure for them to be seen to do something and attacking the supply of more successful programs seems to be their answer.
Trying to increase their own AZ supply you might think justified until you factor in the amazing rates of refusal and mass scepticism as to the effectiveness of the vaccine. It's not even as if a major increase in their own supply would be that useful considering more than 50% refusal rates

Fair is fair we should give the EU a percentage of our vaccines. Send them over a load of the AZ so it can be stored in a warehouse because of the narrow band of population they have assigned it for and the fact they have probably scared any potential patients so much they'll probably refuse to have it anyhow.

Alarming rise in COVID cases in Chile despite vaccination efforts
Latin American country is in a severe health crisis as ICU units overflow despite successful vaccination run.
Great news out of the US, and Biden has nailed their rollout so far. Think AZ messed up their initial comms a bit which led to some confusion and distrust in it’s efficacy, but as more data comes out, it’s stood up really well.
Could be an interesting week to watch our case numbers, as schools have been open now for a couple of weeks, so could expect to see some increased transmission.
A real turning point could come if we see cases increasing a bit as expected as the restrictions get eased, but then hospitalisations and deaths don’t follow that increase as the vaccine effect kicks in.
