Okay.

I don't disagree that it's better to take precautions but as long as they're investigated and solved early. Europe, the UK and indeed the rest of the world aren't in a position to be stopping and starting vaccine roll outs. We just aren't.

right - but the point is these reports (of the unusual occurrences) have been made; the choice they have is either clearing those questions up ASAP now (and accepting a short delay to AZ vaccinations), or continuing on when those questions appear to exist about its safety and having people think they have to make a decision as to whether to take it or not.

Has any expert made a recent prediction of when the pandemic ends?

Was the "the Spanish flu" two years without a vaccine?

The virus will mutate all the time and because of the vaccines dependancy on the virus's surface spike protein remaining largely structurally unchanged, any mutations that do involve a change to it's structure will make the existing vaccines less effective.

High levels of virus will mean the likelihood of more mutations proving problematic. Therefore there is almost certainly another wave of the pandemic later this year with booster shots for the very vulnerable protecting against new mutations.

There is a super vaccine being developed in Oxford which works on a different principle attacking a core protein of the virus. This should be far more resistant to mutations with surface proteins like the spike protein on which the vaccines rely on atm, far more liable to change their 'shape' in new mutations. The super vaccine will likely not be ready until early next year

Sorry apart from getting a blood clot.

The other thing I don't understand is that the blood clot stats for Pfizer vaccinations are very similar, but nobody seems to be bothered by this.

This is probably down to who has suffered the clots - to repeat a point yesterday, if one has them in appearing in otherwise healthy young adults then that’s probably more worrying than another one where this was occurring to elderly patients who’d had a history of strokes.

Yeah it's the trade off and obviously what they deem as an 'acceptable' risk when it comes to delaying or not.

That's obviously up to each individual country. I'd argue that the threshold they're using is a bit low considering the state the world is in, but obviously it's not for me to decide.

There is "no indication" the AstraZeneca vaccine has caused blood clot incidents, the director of the European Medical Agency (EMA) has said.

Emer Cooke, executive director of the EMA, said: "We are still firmly convinced that the benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine in preventing Covid-19, with its associated risk of hospitalisation and death, outweigh the risk of these side effects."

The number of thromboembolic cases seems to be no higher than that seen in the general population, she added.

An estimated 17m AstraZeneca vaccines have been administered across Europe.

Nice one.

Where can I read about this super vaccine?

That 'staycation' sounds absolutely awful.
Not sure where you live Joe, but if it's in Liverpool it's one of the best places around to do that sort of "staycation". Me and the missus used to do something similar every 2/3 years when we had a week off. We just used to imagine we were tourists to the City. We'd spend a day at the Albert Dock and have a few drinks an a nice meal down here. Another day visiting the two cathedrals and have a nice meal around the Hope Street area. Another day visiting the museums and art galleries around St Georges Hall area. If the weather was nice we'd take a ride of the ferry.

Liverpool really is a fantastic City to visit and if you've lived there all your life it's very easy to take it for granted.

Nothing wrong with going out locally I just don't see it as a holiday. Obviously we go out locally all the time but its just not the same as a proper break abroad or even away in the UK. I personally do think by June we'll be able to go to places across the UK and maybe even abroad.

Sorry mate, i don't take the Telegraph seriously, was always a Conservative mouthpiece - well a least when i lived in the UK anyway, i like a bit of objectivity.
You'll never get objectivity in the UK newspapers. They are either Labour or Tory.

You can read whatever newspaper that tells you what you want to hear, and that's what most people tend to do do. That's why most people in this country live in their own little bubbles.
