This will become the norm, pretty soon. Folk will stop being bells in the shops, staying home and making your own fun, all that, will be normal.

Helping out your neighbours, or random elderly folk, will become normal.

When the chips are down, these islands are a pretty resolute bunch of folk.

Oh I don't really mean that even.

just in terms of the economy, the way of life.

I do think from what Johnson said if they can get this antibodies test up and running then they'll hope to get some form of 'normality' back before the 12-week period.

Just seems so long. Italy have only been in lockdown for what, 11 days?

No matter what you do?

How about those 50 kids stay at home.

I suspect that idea would work.

Goat, they are 2-9 years old. They cannot be locked up. They all look out of their windows and see each other. A 7 year old will continually nag the life out of you until 2-3 days in you will crack. Believe me, all of these kids being let loose will still be playing together and may as well have been in school....

So lazy.

Just saw the graph that puts the UK on a steeper mortality rate than Italy, how isn´t there a full lock down implemented yet? Between me and my 10 minute walk to the shop in Madrid I´ve been asked at least once where I´m going by police and to get home as quickly as possible. It´s horrible but necessary. What is Britain waiting for?

Yeah, 2 or 3 might play together, go round to each others house, play Fortnite, go play footy in the park.

But its not 50 kids and 20 staff all in the same room is it.

I get where @peteblue is coming with the schools thing in a way.

They were definitely trying to last as long as possible without shutting them and rightly so.

You've got millions of kids now out of school for, well, who knows how long.

And that does create a lot of problems.

Not every child can stay at home. But their parents won't be key workers. Where do they go?

If they're old enough to stay home and look after themselves, sound, but then you have the issue of them staying where they're meant to. I know 100% that the estate a five-min walk from mine will be jampacked full with kids now every day and their parents either won't know or won't care.

And you can be sure to replicate that all across the country.

It creates a hell of a lot of problems. The only solution is a nationwide lockdown which I don't see this government doing yet.

It's like every solution creates another problem at the moment and this isn't just as simple as people 'being selfish' or not doing as they're asked either.

At least where I am, people are doing what they asked. Went on a quick run tonight and the pubs were empty again. Less people out etc. So people do seem to be listening.

Most of those figures in the UK come from London. Just probably worth noting that.

I have no idea what we are waiting for.

Personally I would call martial law and close down the whole country for 2 weeks.

Literally stop everybody and anybody from leaving their house unless they worked for the NHS.
