Perspective of what ?

If the vaccine is stopping the elderly and vulnerable from dying and ending up in hosy, the rest of us who catch it can cope with it. It’ll be just ike catching any other thing that makes us feel rotten, but doesn’t kill us.

You’ve moved the goal posts ( yet again ) to your new mantra, that the whole of the country should be vaccinated before opening up, when not one single country in the world has done this or is advocating doing this.

It’s neither realistic or sustainable and you know this.

Once this is conquered, you’ll be screaming for the world to be SHUT DOWN over the flu next.

But there is knowing and admitting.......

But I'm not a CMO. I don't have all the data to hand, or the knowledge of the last 12 months.

I don't have to make a decision for the whole country.

They have said that there will be a spike. There will be a spike if we open schools tomorrow, or in 5 weeks. It's how we manage that spike that matters.

They clearly think that the vaccine roll out has gone well enough so far, combined with extremely low rates of infection, to ensure that spike is manageble. So it's a calculated risk.

I don't disagree with you that perhaps it is too early. But I also know that you would be saying it was too early if it was April 12th they were going back.

The figures speak for themselves: unlocking with a population not vaccinated risks everything that's been sacrificed, by some more than others.

With regard to the Rangers situation I do find it appalling that players can go out and see the gathering crowd. That is what they are there for at the end of the day and by doing it are they no better than people who arrange raves etc.? I think 10k fines are in order myself.

It was the part I was most worried about when football returned in the first place, bunch of idiots that think well we can't get anything as obviously the virus pauses to congratulate the winning side. All the hard work to lower rates and then something like this, you can bet your ass some of those in the crowd will be working with people who travel for a job. Just give it a rest FFS until the first lot of vaccinations have been completed - if that means pausing the season so be it.

So that applies globally then ??
Wherever the virus has the upperhand.

But - and as argued ad nauseum - it's not just about vaccines. If we have a public outlook that is compliant with required changes in behaviour, and a government that suppresses immediately any detected surge, we can resume a lot of activities that are constantly on the cusp of being taken away when they are abused.

It's a choice: try and go back to the old normal believing that the vaccines are here and that'll sort it; or to learn to respect and live with the virus and fight it tooth and nail in an intelligent way.

What's being proposed by this government in terms of unlocking these next few weeks is not intelligent.

You`re going to be staying in that bunker of yours for a long time to come.

But we are not unlocking for a few months. The schools Monday, (a well travelled debate this evening), shops not till 12th April. And all the time, which they have done ever since the vaccines were started, data, data, data.

The problem is they have ignored the data and the science, every single step of the way

At times, yeah. But if you have seen the recent briefings, the science and data is strong. Like we, or they, have a far better grasp of this thing now. I, like most, am a bit uncertain, thats natural, but the reading I have done about the folk in the shadows, playing with virus proteins and sharing stuff with their global nerd gangs, makes me feel they are now in charge.

I dont trust any of them.

The likes of Van Tam stood by as people died and kept their mouths firmly closed.

They are as much to blame as Boris the Butcher and his crew.
