Talking of vaccines, I note with some interest, that in light of the fact that the AZ Oxford vaccine, appears to be highly effective, that you’ve quietly dropped dismissing it as good for nothing gnats piss and trying to frighten people into not taking it.

Also, that you’ve not so subtly moved onto your new hobby horse, that the easing of the lockdown restrictions will set the world on fire again.
Unlike you, I base my decision making on evidence.

If there's data that points to the AZ vaccine moving out of the huge question mark status it's had (something admitted by scientists in the area because of its lack of trial data on over-65s), then my attitude changes.

That's called commonsense.

Is it dinner time at GCHQ yet? What are you having? Chips? Egg? Bacon?

No bacon for me I’m afraid, as I don’t eat meat, so just chips and free range eggs.

Well, just how are we going to turn it round?
A world of finite resources, delicately balanced, a world where economic success is measured on growth of GDP .
A world which is rapidly being destroyed by its most advanced life form, the human race.
If we continue to follow our present path then there will be nothing left for future generations.
Suggest you change your name to Happy Jack.

If we had winter lockdowns we would save thousands of none covid deaths every year.

We don't do it.

Nor should we for covid once vaccines have been fully rolled out. This might take another autumn/winter so some restrictions might be necessary.

The risk in summer is really low so we should open up.

That will lead to an environment where variants thrive and it stores up another catastrophic winter.

How difficult is it to understand that we cant go back to pre-2019? I know the instinct is to deny, but to do so will leave us open to another winter of crisis and far more severe lockdowns than we've seen up to now.

If you want another summer blow out dont be surprised to see us back to square one in the autumn/winter.

If we're sensible and dont do what happened last summer we can avoid a calamity.

Mass death occurs every winter.

It's a natural cycle of how immune systems and viruses etc work. That's why cases remained low last summer and why we should open up a little this summer.

I am not against some sort of restrictions starting in October or November whilst this is fairly new but it cannot go on.

Some of the health issues we have today are due to advances in medicine and our understanding of things. People live for much longer. Some folks are rattling with pills to keep them alive.

We can't keep stealing years from the young.
You can't be serious.

You do realise that the AZ vaccine has been tested on 20million people in this country, most of which are over 65?

Stop listening to the French and Germans Dave.

Where is your Dunkirk spirit?

Been chatting with my mate who lives in Amsterdam this morning.

Apparently there's daily protests over there - people really kicking off about the lockdown, no route out of it and the mess that is the vaccine roll out.

It's being called the 'COVID dictatorship', apparently (or that how it translates!).
Strange isn't it that our main media prefer not to inform us of the pubic dissent to lockdown etc in other countries.

Yes, but it was passed on almost no evidence at all before that.
It was almost like going with a hunch or hypothesis...which is what Prof Pollard at Oxford basically admitted to today.

It was a gamble. The Euro nations and the US realised that and were prepared to wait until more data was forthcoming.
