That would suggest the leaders of all those other nations waiting for persuasive data were being reckless by taking the advice of their scientific/medical experts.

Think the main issue is their insistance that the AZ vaccine doesn't work even though there is plenty of evidence to suggest it does. The EU have taken a gamble and its massively backfired.

I'm a big remainer but Macron is useless and is probably going to lose to far right nutcases in the next election. They should have been doing everything they could to save as many lives as possible by promoting the British AZ vaccine.

A further 279 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 83,529, NHS England said on Tuesday.

Patients were aged between 17 and 102.

All except 11, aged between 17 and 89, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between December 3 and March 1.

There were 30 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

A total of 17,985,951 Covid-19 vaccinations took place in England between December 8 and March 1, according to provisional NHS England data, including first and second doses, which is a rise of 173,212 on the previous day’s figures.

They avoided placing their populations in a situation where the vaccine's failure could have cost hundreds of thousands of lives, and they still have the vaccine there in the future to draw upon when they can secure it.

No, they did the very OPPOSITE of playing politics with their citizens lives: they went with the advice of what the vast majority of scientific experts were giving about the AZ vaccine and older age groups: that the data needed to be more roubust.
