Johnson and his fellow butchers are going to walk us right into another blizzard of infections by (AGAIN) reopening too early...and then we'll face even longer lockdowns.

I mean we'll see but we're not 'reopening' in any sense for at least another 4 weeks. Schools going back - when there's plenty of kids going atm anyway - isn't exactly 'reopening' in full, is it?

Fauci also echoed earlier warnings from Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, that it was too soon to be relaxing coronavirus restrictions. Several states have eased mask rules and are reopening some businesses, and rates of new infections and mortality have plateaued after recent drops.

“Once you start pulling back, the thing you don’t want is to have a plateauing at a level that’s so high that, inevitably, things are going to go back up,” he told NBC.

“Our baseline of daily infections now, even though it’s way down from where it was 300,000-plus per day, is down to around 70,000. That baseline’s too high. So it’s really too premature right now to be pulling back too much.”

He also responded to growing calls for schools to reopen, cautioning it could be “earliest the end of the year and very likely the first quarter of 2022” before elementary school-age children could be vaccinated. High schoolers, he said, could start receiving shots in the fall.
But its not Children "we" need to vaccinate.

Here is what should be referred to for variants.

A clear, up-to-date categorisation of each one, what each one does (whether it's more deadly/spreads quicker etc) and the most recent vaccine resistance notes.

Dr Susan Hopkins, Public Health England's Covid-19 strategic response director, says the P1 variant from Brazil is concerning because it is more transmissible and there have also been cases of people being reinfected by it - which may mean the vaccine response is also affected.

She tells BBC Radio 4's Today programme that health authorities are "clamping down" with a number of measures because with these new variants, the "risk starts to increase when you open up" as the UK intends to in the coming months.

Can tell they are worried (government), had the vaccine Minster blurting his nonsense. This variant has been known about for months last autumn. We've had isolation hotels for 2 weeks.Too little to late, yet again.

And similarly with Kent variant does not the mean Brazil variant started there just it was first identified in said countries.
