Whether you take an extended one jab followed by a second, or a jab shortly followed by a second, is for the scientists, and it seems that our scientists are not flip flopping all over the place. What cannot be argued is the absolute number of jabs given, now approaching 21 million, in which the U.K. is outperforming EU countries by an awful long way. so go on, just for once, try and say “well done the U.K., keep it up”.......

I just gave you a perferctly adequate answer...then you posed the same question for me to answer again.

Ok, once again: the UK approach was both different (emphaisis on one jab rather than elsewhere with two) and a reckless gamble. In the fullness of time we;lll see whether that gamble paid off.

In the meantimne we do have ther evidence on performance in keeping the UK population safe under the Covid19 period:

THE UK TORY RUN GOVERNMENT HAS PRESIDED OVER THE WORST PER CAPITA FATALITY RATE IN THE WORLD.

In that case, the NHS/GP will contact them. The only places where you can book the first and second one are the mass vax sites, cos they are open every day. GPs arrange vaccine days when they get their next supply confirmed.
I had my first jab at a mass vax site and was given a card and told I would be contacted in due course for my second jab, as so happens they texted me on Friday to give me the date for jab number 2

Some hubs are being used by surgeries. IIRC the Maghull one operate that way with their town hall acting as a large vaccination centre. (Might be groups of surgeries using the town hall that way).

Oh sure. My GP use their surgery and the town hall. Its quite amazing really.

edit. Soz, yeah the hubs would be an obvious place for surgeries in that area to use. I didnt fancy driving to Ashton Gate, when I could get it locally.

Hospital figures - 193 deaths were announced today, down 109 on yesterday and down 113 on last Sunday. 149 deaths were in English hospitals, down 108 on yesterday and down 109 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 304.29

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 144 deaths were announced today, down 146 on yesterday and down 71 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 324.14

For the 60 day cut off, 171 deaths were announced today, down 322 on yesterday and down 88 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 473

No it hasn’t. The worst is Belgium followed by Czechia, Slovenia, U.K., Italy, Portugal and the USA....

It is also known that the U.K. has had no influenza deaths, yet apparently Germany has been rife with Flu deaths. It’s all about what goes on the death certificate and countries are applying differing rules. There is also no common environment for an even spread of deaths, we are a small highly populated country, Germany and France are quite a bit larger in land mass, etc etc. So all of these numbers, while absolute in terms of deaths, are not the Overall Deaths per country including Flu or whatever other reason appears on a death certificate.

Now I am not defending the U.K. approach to the early part of this virus, it was riddled with indecision and delay, but it was no worse than others and indeed our lockdowns were harsher than most other European countries. But I absolutely will defend the effort and work put in to sort out the vaccines, which are what will ultimately bring us back to some form of normality....

Deaths per million of population: the UK is the biggest nation with a sizeable population for fatalities. Bigger than Italy, bigger than the USA.

And please dont try and get that stuff abaout 'poor initial reatcion to the crisis' in under the radar. That lot left th country exposed (again) no more than 3 months ago in October through December

This is an appalling record. The only way they've got away with the political fall out from this is because the LP are led by an utter 'kin coward.

I was given the second date by text the day after the first jab. I think that was because I was classed as clinically vulnerable but Mrs Whittle, who is not cv and was managed though our local gp surgery and had her jab (Pfizer- same as me) does not yet have a date and “will be contacted at the appropriate time.”
I have yet to hear of anyone having a jab that hasn’t had an friendly and effective experience.
