Looks like my region has just announced teachers and all those working in childcare have been bumped up the priority list. Looks like they can get appointments now and will probbaly be getting the AZ vaccine. Lots will be fuming but someone has to get the vaccine FFS lol Good move IMO.

I am not sure you grasp what a vaccine actually does.

So they do play a key role in all of this, as do other things like social interaction and treating the virus, but without the vaccine they’re all pointless arent they?

Vaccines will always be a step behind. Do you think after this first surge of vaccines (struggling with supplies and delivery even with this first generation) we'll see a constant roll out of updated vaccine in perpetuity?

No.

Medically, the answer is therapeutics, not vaccine.

Aids for recovery after infection is where we should be seeing the next Operation Warp Speed.

In the meantime we'll need to have social distancing, track and trace (remember that?), and we'll need to see early lockdowns to suppress the spread of the virus if it rears it's head again.

So what purpose is the vaccine serving? You are so very dismissive of it and, as usual, calling people idiots etc. Try and have a constructive conversation without name calling. Just once please.

Again though, what is the purpose of the vaccine? It seems it will stop people (largely) going to hospital, getting severely ill and reduces transmission. I agree with you that it alone is not the answer but you are playing down it's effectiveness way to much.

Not looking to argue but just wondering why play down the vaccine so much?

Come April when the majority of those who had the 1st jab need the 2nd - im assuming we'll have to in effect double our current solid output to keep 1st jabs at the rate we are going?

Going to be very difficult but hopefully we can manage it.
