Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

IF and I said IF the trends regarding deaths and vaccines keep falling at their current rate, I suspect the noises will be quite loud for a full reopening by the end of March.

They'll gather in volume but I think there'll be reasonable doubt in most minds - still too early - but by mid April/early May if numbers are as low as I expect them to be then it'll be increasingly impossible to prevent people just completely disregarding advice.

If they're smart, they bring the total re-opening forward to around 15 May and say they're doing so on the proviso that people still take precautions like masks. Because by doing that people would do that. If they waited til mid-June, as soon as that deadline hit everyone would take the proverbial urine and completely stop any voluntary safety measures.

The Butcher:

" We cannot persist indefinitely with restrictions that debilitate our economy"

And there we have it: economy over health for the 3rd time of this crisis. THAT is why we have 120,000 dead. The worst nation in the world in terms of handling this crisis.

Only downside today is that there were only like 141,000 vaccinations, the lowest since records started being published.

Having over 10,000 new cases today is because testing has really been ramped up after a few days of below 400,000 and in the 300,000s, the positivity percentage is very low at 1.9.

I suppose this marries in with what has been said about BioNtech’s supply chain being low for about two weeks before they can ramp it up again.

Nonetheless, that’s still more jabs closer to the next milestone of 18 million. It’s been overall a very good day, good times are around the corner and hopefully New Order in November at the O2 will happen, as well as most importantly seeing the Toffees again with my mates after long trips from Hastings to Liverpool!.

Have you joined the dark side?
No Dave, my main focus has been and will remain to be saving lives.

If I see something that I think put lives at risk, I will say.

We have an excellent vaccine program, we are saving lives, millions of people are now safe from The Butcher.

We cant lockdown forever, we have to try and fix the other problems this virus has caused now.

The people need hope, the people need to know what life is, what we are trying to save.

Sunday's vaccination figures are generally on the low side

Hospital figures - 196 deaths were announced today, down 110 on yesterday and down 66 on last Monday. 178 deaths were in English hospitals, down 80 on yesterday and down 53 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 392

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 177 deaths were announced today, down 38 on yesterday and down 53 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 480.14

For the 60 day cut off, 215 deaths were announced today, down 44 on yesterday and down 46 on last Monday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 631.14

Go and tell people in retail and hospitality that they’ve been prioritised.

They’ve had their lives put on hold for a whole year. Now the vulnerable have had their first jab and will be having their second soon, it is time to start moving towards focusing on the young people who’s lives have been impacted massively because of this.

This is a good day. Millions of people can now breathe a sigh of relief and look to getting back to work and earning a proper living.

Economy IS also health. Poverty kills loads, probably as many as COVID does a year - if not many many more - through various means.

We can't just lock down forever. There has to be a moment the pendulum swings back, and that is dependent on how much of a serious imminent threat COVID is at any given time.

It's too early.

What are other more responsible national governments doing? Certoanly not this with 120,000 dead on their hands. We are traumatised as a nation. We need calm not more chaos and harm.

Realise this: these scumbags are going to use this crisis to push through a busines first and only mentality - laying the basis for the massive deregulation of healthcare provision and burning of labour statutes in order to suck in trade. Opening up like this is their way of saying to cut-throat corporate fascists "invest here, we cont give a flying one about our people, look at the chances we take with their lives".

Those people have vulnerable family members (or are vulnerable themselves), so dont talk to me in abstractions.

So: a big 'back to the old normal' policy backed up with vaccines; then back to the lockdowns when the vaccines will need to be adapted but wont save tens of more thousdands dying in the winter.

Absolutely spot on!!

I've got two gigs lined up for July (outdoors) and by Christ I would give anything to be at them.

The pilot tester events for crowds will be held in April and May (FA Cup and League Cup finals will 100% be used for that).

It'll be all about getting people to get tested - and since they will have to be have proof of a negative test to get in, that won't be an issue as long as the facilities are there.

I dread to think of the sheer number of innocent single women that will be getting a good fingering in Blue Toffs tent of love.

Like a caged animal let loose for the first time in years.
