yes, you can - it still leaves families behind, ruins lives etc etc

I doubt the vast majority of people who died in WW2 were over the age of 70...

So before you jump down my throat, I'm not saying that makes it right, or that we should be lifting lockdown for anybody who hasn't got a bus pass or anything like that. But realistically COVID has taken a lot of people before their time, but it's not like 18-year-olds are going off to get shot or millions of people getting gassed because they're Jewish.

By the fourth week after receiving an initial dose, the Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines were shown to reduce the risk of hospitalisation from coronavirus in Scotland by up to 85% and 94%, respectively.

Lead researcher Professor Aziz Sheikh said: "These results are very encouraging and have given us great reasons to be optimistic for the future.

"We now have national evidence - across an entire country - that vaccination provides protection against COVID-19 hospitalisations."

And that's with one dose...

Nice to see someone talking sense.

Slightly different when humans are murdering millions compared with a virus.

no, but that wasn’t the point

The death toll for this is staggering; most of the country is in the position of knowing someone who has got seriously ill or died, or having lost someone from their own family, or having fallen ill themselves. Everyone in the country has been effected in other ways by it.

In terms of recent disasters this country has faced, it’s only the two wars and the 1918/19 pandemic that presents a parallel. So to say “you can’t compare it to a war” is, frankly, horlicks.

Oh look, loads of good news stories about the vaccines and falling infection and trransmission rates...on the day an announcement is made about a 'roadmap' out of lockdown. It's almost like it's co-ordinated.

Seems are we back to wealth before health although good reason to believe it's always be wealth, it's like variants don't exist or not a danger. Oh well off into the coal face
Incredible isn't it?

It turns out it was all a dream.

Unbelievable pisstake this past few days - the push by corporate Britain, their media and their whores in parliament to get lockdown ended while we still suffer a catastrophe.

Or, it happens that we're now getting lots of real-world data that back up that the vaccines are working???

Its almost like vax experts advised the likely time frame from first jabs to medical improvements, based on that thing called experience, and advised accordingly.

It blags my head.

The only person I know in the last year who has been able to get away is my sister, who went to Spain in July for a week.

I don't get why people are still going, or even considering it.

Travel for work is totally different.

Suppose the only thing is if they have homes out in other places that need seeing to or whatever. I kind of (kind of) get that, though it's not like that couldn't be sorted without them going out there either.

The very real problem is that tens of thousands of people have had pre booked holidays from last year carried over from last year to this year.

What do you do about them ?

Our holiday abroad last year was carried over and If we’re able to, we’ll be going this Summer. This is based on the fact that by then me and my missus will be vaccinated by then.

Nobody is saying variants don't exist ffs. But we have to learn to live with them. The main point is right now, the vaccines (both AZ and Pfizer, after one dose) are proven to significantly reduce the likelihood of hospitalisation.

That is progress. Undeniable progress.

The 'roadmap' has - for weeks - been set to come out this week. It's not exactly all fun and games is it. Literally nothing changes for the vast majority of people in their lives, other than kids look like they're off back to school in a few weeks. Or, if you like golf, you can go for a round, which again is absolutely easily safe.

Nothing else until, at the very earliest, the end of March, and that's literally been able to have someone round in your garden or be able to play tennis.
