Alongside the promising news about Pfizer's ongoing efficacy after 1 dose, they have also discovered it can now be stored in regular medical freezers meaning its use can be more widespread around the World which is great news, especially for poorer countries who can't afford large scale specialist storage facilities.

"Separately, the vaccine, which has been authorized in the U.S., the U.K., the EU and elsewhere, can be stored and transported at between minus 25 and minus 15 degrees Celsius, or minus 13 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit—similar to a consumer freezer—Pfizer and BioNTech said. Currently, the vaccine’s labels say it must be stored at between minus 80 and minus 60 degrees Celsius, requiring sophisticated equipment."

I appreciate that is how its been reported, but that study really does not say anything that we didn't largely already know and it certainly doesn't give any evidence to back delaying it for twelve weeks.

Hospital figures - 394 deaths were announced today, up 1 on yesterday and down 95 on last Friday. 315 deaths were in English hospitals, up 6 on yesterday and down 92 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 435.71

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 533 deaths were announced today, up 79 on yesterday and down 225 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 519

For the 60 day cut off, 726 deaths were announced today, up 140 on yesterday and down 252 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 664.29

Not sure if this could be incorporated into a vaccine rollout strategy

Witty, (I think) said that a few weeks ago.

As for the vax strategy, I doubt they have the data that is robust enough to speedily include it in the roll out. That, and as we are cheerily reminded time and time again, 1/3 of folk who had/have it, just dont know.

Firstly it does give us real World data that the Pfizer jab is highly effective up to 4 weeks. That is new information. I described it as "promising" which I think it is.

Secondly, my post was mainly about the fact Pfizer's jab can now be stored in regular medical freezers which is great news.

France are considering doing this. On the surface seems to make sense

An estimate? How many pubs have substantial outdoor space? Not many in any city or town. Country pubs etc are a different matter and some may be ok. Barely any of the pubs in liverpool city centre have more than a couple of outdoor tables making outdoor service unprofitable. Our weather is also regularly pretty poor in April/May.

We have loads of outdoor space, decking, sheltered and covered areas, views and tables. There is however no way we are opening unless people can sit in the pub. U.K. weather is all over the place, and it gets a bit chilly in the evening. It might be fine for 18-25 year olds in the towns and cities, but unless the sun is beating down our customers want to sit inside. Without the ability for customers to sit inside from the weather it’s just pointless.....

Nearly 120,000 dead.

Shocking and largely avoidable for a good percentage.

But compare it to the tally last week and it's lower, the week before it's over 300 lower than that, and 450 on the week before that.

Tuesdays-Thursdays give the highest figures because of how they're counted, and it's dropping by 1000 on those days.
