Not surprised they haven't got time to have one too busy shooting each other.
It's not about combatting the here and now. I've said the response of the government and western governments left a lot to be desired.
But you're insisting on a cultural shift for years to come. So that's not about the here and now either.
If the virus had started here, or in France or the US, because of people going to gigs or matches, then fine. But it didn't. It started in the far East, specifically either in a Wuhan wet market or lab, and recent examples of serious outbreaks also started in a similar manner in a similar part of the world.
So change how we respond to these unlikely events? Sure. But surely, the places that these things start in, because of certain conditions in the wet markets if China's claims are to be believed, are the ones which need to think of a 'cultural shift'?

I didn't say that either.
I've explicitly said our government's response were crap.
But our government doesn't 'disappear' journalists or doctors for reporting on the outbreak of a deadly virus, either.
If it makes you feel better though, or go down Dave's route of comparing Johnson to Hitler, who murdered millions of people based on race, religion, sexual orientation or disability, go right ahead.
I believe it started in the wet markets, naturally. It hasn't been proven either way. Because China have covered it up.
If it did start in the wet markets, then that suggests that they should really be stopping those wet markets doesn't it?

I think he's denying that it was started in the labs which, fairly, we don't know - and it's why I've said a few times that i'm more inclined to believe it started in the wet markets.
Which, frankly, is just as bad.
If a part of our culture involved such mixing with livestock/animals/people or whatever, in such a confined environment, and had a demonstratable history of leading to serious illnesses spreading from them, then I'd like to think that, in 2021, as one of the world's largest economies, we'd change our ways a bit.
But no, apparently it's just western culture that has to change.
There wasn't a second wave for well over a month either, even after all the eat out to help out stuff.
The very start of the second wave happened to coincide with schools and unis (imo the main one in terms of people taking stuff from one area of the nation to another) going back and the weather starting to turn in late September/early October.
Every graph shows rates of infection pretty flat from June through to late September
Do we get rid of wet markets all over the world??
In the ideal world, yes, as the potential for this to happen again is magnified by their existence - nature bites back.
In the real world, it won’t happen for a whole host of reasons, poverty and culture being the main ones.
