There are two issues. Dealing with the pandemic and delivering the vaccines. We cocked up the first one, but we are playing a blinder on the second. The EU didn’t get involved on the first one and left it to individual countries, they then spectacularly scored several own goals in the second, and keep putting them in.....

No, we aren't pete - we are injecting loads of people with the first dose of a vaccine. We could (and should) have actually vaccinated many more people than we have.

I can read it... just can't quite compute it.

You've been here 13 years and still don't know what davek is all about.

Mad.

On a completely unrelated note, just noticed my join date was Bonfire Night. Can't for the life of me figure out what I was doing joining an Everton forum on Bonfire Night.

But we're not. The jabs aren;t being used properly. They are spaced apart by months and many scientists are warning it risks losing any advantage in getting the first jab quicker than other nations.

If the decision had been to put 2 jabs in the arms of all over-80s by end of February then you'd have an argument. But that chance was taken away because this lot allowed the economy to stay open and spread the infection, hospitalisation and fatality rate to get wildy out of hand so they switch to spreading the jab out over many more of the population.

It's a brain dead decision by a brain dead government.

How. We can only vaccinate if we have the vaccinations. I’ll grant you that Scotland is making an arse of it, but the rest of the U.K. is doing OK......

And many scientists are full of praise for what has been done and are now even suggesting that it improves the outcome.....even the CEO of AZ said it was the right way to go....they’re not all brain dead surely......

We'd have more people who've had their second jabs, pete (ie: been actually vaccinated)- the number of people with their first jab would be lower (probably 4-5 million) but the actually vaccinated people (with two doses and confirmed protection) would probably be 2-3 million.

That would still more than anyone else in Europe, and we wouldn't run the risk of having to do it again (pfizer have repeatedly said that they do not know if delaying the second jab to up to 12 weeks will work).
