That sack of murdering Tory excrement "hinting at" ending some restrictions in the next 3/4 weeks.

That's exactly the message to send out to people who are also being told to stay indoors now.

He's the very worst PM to have in this crisis. Apologising for restrictions and promising their end when the hospitals of this country are breaking down rapidly - dealing with the open economy policy he was determined to pursue right into December.

An utter 'kin disgrace. He's subhuman.

Home Bargains, Poundland, B&M and One Below have pretty much stayed open throughout because they sell both essentials and non essentials, a handful of Poundlands in indoor shopping centres did close a few weeks back like
Funniest thing is how The Range is still allowed to be open.

That’s true, but the long term urgency EU has to put in place a public health system across the entire Schengen area as the result of this, and probably a common external border. They cannot go back to what existed before.

I agree, but also not sure test, track and trace for flu is a realistic option either.

Can't have this thing that if you get a tickly throat you've got to avoid leaving the house and get tested for anything under the sun.

Just has to be a balance. I'm sure the Asian countries manage but their cultures are also completely different aren't they.

End of the day, no country in Europe dealt with it particularly well but also, it wasn't their 'fault' it spread in the first place. So lessons just need to be learned across the board.

Regardless of view on Brexit, the Belgian "Guinea pigs" comment on the AZ vaccine in the UK is dangerous, abhorrent and wrong.

No defending it, and the vaccine has actually shown the EU issues with bureaucracy and inefficiency for what it is.

We spend billions on our armed forces.

I feel we should start declaring wars on the likes of Belgium.

I hate Mondays, they always give me hope with the lower figures, then along comes Tuesday.

Very clear projectory at the moment - deaths will approach the 2,000 mark over next 2-3 weeks, whilst cases dwindle.

The 'wave' is in terminal decline now. Hopefully, with the vaccines, it's the last major wave of this pandemic, but I do expect an uptick late March/April of transmission but not the mortality, as the lockdown ends and it infects the working age populace more who haven't had the vaccine.

He just can’t resist playing nice for the COVIDiots of this country. The man’s no leader, he’s a mouse. I keep saying it but Blair, Brown, Major, Cameron and May would have handled this past year a hell of a lot better than De Pfeffel has

He's cost tens of thousands of lives. His decisions have been murderous. He knows and he knew what he was doing. He doesn't and didn't care.

Make no mistake about it, this is a monster in our midst.

I just don't understand how it took so long for the R rate to drop below 1 in the summer. But it's now dropped below 1 within weeks of lockdown when we supposedly have a mega variant now?

The R rate isn't based on numbers. It's hard to explain but to give an example...

If you have one case and then another one, and that was it - a total number of cases of two - then the R rate would be 1.0.

But if you have 1 million cases and then another 1 million, the R rate would still be 1.0.

So in the summer, the case rate was low but consistently low, so the R rate was stable around and just below 1 - in circulation but not exponential. But now, although the amount of cases are substantially higher, the growth is negative, thus a lower R rate.

LOL what a stupid thing to say, especially considering Belgium's own management of the crisis. I think it was about the Pfizer vaccine though?
