Oh dear, the UK we now have the highest global death rate in the world with 16.54 per million.

So why has the UK's death rate always been top or close to the top when it comes to the virus?

We should never have been anywhere near this figure considering our supposed wealth and equality, shameful statistic.

A number of reasons, high population of elderly, a large population in nursing homes, large number of people with other conditions, a massive amount of people on a small island, a prime minister who has no idea what he's at, a health service at capacity and your counting of deaths ie anyone whos tested positive in the last 28 days

A lot of news outlets starting to come out stating that schools are likely to be closed until April. I think we all knew this would happen due to the crazy policies in December.

One point that winds me up is when they pretend that the lockdown is going to be short when everyone knows it takes months to make a decent dent into the spread.

I'm still hoping that things will reopen mid April / May but time will tell.

Given the mantra of government and in fact many people it's simply incompatible we as a nation as are even near this position, ever... It's the great levelling!

This about sums it up.

Useless government, and an unhealthy, ageing population.

The cases in West Yorks have stayed relatively okay since October, but the area, and south Yorks, on the whole have had the highest percentage of deaths per 100,000, I believe.

Mostly people in the older groups and, frankly in this area, a lot of that is down to previous work. Not to get all nothern, but around me is just tons of pit villages. My mate's granddad who died from it was a miner all his life - his lungs were completely shot.

Throw in general health and fitness too and as a country we were just rife for it, and our government didn't take the right steps to at least mitigate that risk (I don't for a second believe us doing what Aus and NZ did would have ended up with us being in their position now, but we would have definitely have had a better chance!).

Obviously I know this can really affect the fit and healthy too, totally understand that, but the vast majority of people who have died from this will have had an underlying condition, whether that was a serious respiratory problem or they were quite overweight. Doesn't make it right that they died and potentially could have been saved by better action.

One thing that we at least are getting right is the vaccine which, at this stage, is all that matters imo.
