Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

It certainly suits some more than others, I'd put myself into the category of those for whom the lockdown has less of an impact.

I do find though that that is waning since Christmas.

The biggest impact for me is not really having an appetite to go out and exercise after-dark, and after work. And the weather obviously doesn't help.

So its become working from home and working out from home.

There is no reference point in that sense for the beginning/end of the working/non-working day.

I always thought that irrespective of the virus trajectory, winter would be very difficult psychologically for people to get through this time around. Reduced daylight can be a serious issue at the best of times for many people, and this has just ramped that upsignificantly.
Definitely agree with your points. I feel sorry for people who live in flats with no outdoor space. This time round though due to the weather and daylight hours its similar for everyone.

The people who tend to have less of a problem with lockdowns are normally introverts. Its not particularly natural to be stuck inside which is probably why it has a negative impact on a lot of people.

I know it’s the mail, but given this governments proclivity for leaking things to the media I imagine there are some kernels of truth in there.

The idea that they could take away support bubbles will be very distressing for a lot of people. Limiting solo exercise also doesn’t make a lot of sense.

The daily mail comments are as usual very anti- lockdown, but even in circles which have been pro-restrictions it seems like a lot of people are reaching the end of their tether mentally. What’s worse is anything the government does now is basically pointless. The cases and deaths are basically bed in now, so limiting things like exercise now is just a waste of time and is more punishing than helpful.

Don't think it'll be long before you'll need to have had a vacation before you can fly especially once there's more vaccine available .Think people would be prepared to pay for it once that options available.
Nothing new with that.
Many of the older members on here, who travelled on business, will remember the days when you needed smallpox, typhus, yellow fever, cholera and the rest.
Jabs were recorded on a cerificate that had to produced before they let you into their country.
Used to get mine done at the Liverpool Uni School of Tropical Medicine.

Modelling saying 1 in 4 in Knowsley and 1 in every 2 1/2 people in Liverpool have had COVID.

Yet I know of exactly 2 people who've had it...

Just seems well off to me.
I know 1. I'm in sefton. I also wonder about the death rates. My father in law died 2 weeks ago. Was diagnosed with bowel cancer 2: years ago and has been in a nursing home for the last 6 months. She has been able to visit him lately and was called in at end of life. Nearly wasted away. She got the death certificate back and it had covid as cause of death. She queried it with the nursing home and they said they had not seen any symptoms of covid. In querying with the doctor he changed cause of death back to bowel cancer. Just made me wonder about the death statistics

If you test positive for covid when you die, you are counted in the statistics.

It's why they changed it to 'died with covid'

I'm lucky that I work shifts. It mixes it up for me and I don't have that routine of working 9-5 from home, in the middle of winter.

It's a godsend at the moment. If I'm working an evening or doing 2-11, for example, I have the morning to get out on a walk or run or bike ride. It's really helped, tbh.

They`re running out of people and places to blame for the fact that it`s still rising unabated, so they`re looking to pin the blame elsewhere :

Pubs ( covid incubators ) - shut.
Restaurants ( muck sellers ) - shut.
Gyms - ( covid incubation factories for sted heads ) - shut.
Schools - ( junior covid incubation factories ) - shut.
Universities ( covid incubation warehouses ) - shut.
Beauty salons ( back, crack and sack parlours ) - shut.
Hair dressers / barbers ( have you been anywhere nice on your holidays - NO, I`m not allowed ) - shut.

You can`t blame them for being the spreaders anymore, as they`re all shut, so who`s next on the list of shame ?

The cyclist, the jogger, the lady, walking her dog in the park, with a cup of takeaway coffee ( that`s now classed as a picnic ), the family member who pops around to his elderly parents house with the shopping and has a cuppa, the family walking on a beach or mountain. along with other families.

It`s just madness.

I think the introverts are most likely handling it better, but we still find it frustrating too.

I dont see how you can limit people to one trip per week there are 1000s of people who cant afford a monthly shop so go a couple of times a week, how would they enforce it anyway? To me its just another case of look over there, dont look at us and our cack handed handling of this

Well lucky you.

My Mum is in Aintree hospital right now with Covid Pneumonia, with an oxygen mask and on antibiotics, saline and steroid drips.

The staff at Aintree hospital are saying it is absolutely overrun with Covid.

My Dad has it. He said it is the most ill he has ever felt.

One of my sister's has it.

My little nephew has it.

You, and any other sceptic/denier, can fecking do one.

Any new rules, I shall simply not listen.

All I do atm is go to an office twice a week, on my own now. Rest of work is from home. Other than that, I go on walks, runs and the odd bike ride. See my mum and dad every few days as since 2/3 of my housemates are now wfh 5 days a week I can't get on the other computer so have to go and use theirs.

@Tubey really isn't a skeptic or denier.

Appreciate it must be a horrid time that you're going through, and hope for the best. But you've got that wrong.
