It’s bizarre isn’t it ?

Some people genuinely seem to enjoy living like this.

I really can’t get my head around it.

We would go back to some normalisation come summer with or without vaccine, as this type of virus don't like Sun .

Reality of the situation vaccine is only six month protection, so likely lockdown could become the norm in our winter months.

Much prefer pragmatism and honesty myself.

Lad I know had been furloughed most of 2020 and loved it - lives with his parents still so no mortgage to worry about, no escape needed as he has no missus chewing his ear off over anything & everything.

Fair play to him but I wouldn't want to live that sort of life.

Hopefully repeat vaccines, like the flu vaccine rather than Winter lockdowns will be the norm.

I genuinely don’t think I could handle this every year, as it’s only my running keeping me going now.

There’s some good things about it. Working from home is a lot, lot better than going into the office for instance.

But everything else around it is rubbish. It’s fine though, we have to do what we have to do.

Telling people they can only leave the house once a week will do more harm than good. I’ve just been through that myself after a sprained foot and could feel myself sinking into a depression. Getting out the house is a solace for a lot of people.

what do you mean only a six month protection?

It's a vaccine, it will give the base protection against the virus and that will stop the health systems being overwhelmed.

The only justifications for lockdowns are to stop hospitals and health systems getting overwhelmed.

We may need to have a jab every year that is made available to the same people that the flu jab is made available to. That's the sensible way forward. It's not going anywhere.

It's nonsense for gov or people to even to suggest it.

Imagine trying to run or open a business? But you've got to shut down for five months a year?

And well, you'll never be able to go to a concert or match or event again from October to March either.

Utter drivel.

It certainly suits some more than others, I'd put myself into the category of those for whom the lockdown has less of an impact.

I do find though that that is waning since Christmas.

The biggest impact for me is not really having an appetite to go out and exercise after-dark, and after work. And the weather obviously doesn't help.

So its become working from home and working out from home.

There is no reference point in that sense for the beginning/end of the working/non-working day.

I always thought that irrespective of the virus trajectory, winter would be very difficult psychologically for people to get through this time around. Reduced daylight can be a serious issue at the best of times for many people, and this has just ramped that up significantly.

It’s just the monotony of it all.

It’s really not good for people’s mental health.
I know. And there are times when I struggle but that’s more the weight of the situation (and not seeing my family much in the last year).

But I’ve found lots of ways to keep my mind occupied and happy. Reading every day. Exercise. New hobbies. Old hobbies. Cooking. Football.

I’ve found that having things to focus on and goals massively helpful.

‘I’m going to read the chapter of a book every day’ for instance.

it’s a distraction. Keeps your mind active and it’s something to track.

We have found having a reasonably "strict" routine helps. We jokingly refer to it as the Day, Night, and Weekend shifts.

In fact, after a few months of it, we had to have a telephone assessment for a PIP claim. It took an hour, which was fine, but after it, cos our routine had been mucked up, we were both knackered, and felt all awry. Quite odd really.

I think for a year its manageable but if this was the way of life for the next 3+ years it would be a killer like.

There is only so much pornhub a guy can watch before friction burns occur
