Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

It’s mad reading the first few pages of this thread and then to see where we now are.

Makes you think if we’ll ever get back to the life we once had.

We will, it will take time and the effects will be felt for many, many years, but normal life will resume.
Let’s hope so.

I’ve only been in the office once now since March and I know for many people it is really starting to have an effect on them. There’s only so much Microsoft Teams a person can take.

Everything is hinging on the roll out of this vaccine. So far it actually seems to be going to plan, which I’m surprised at given the way the government have performed over the past year.

Luckily, the roll out has little to do with the Government. They just need to buy the stuff. NHS, and the military, (if needed), do the logistics.

Serious question here, and not taking the mick. Does anyone here personally know anyone who has passed away directly off COVID, not with it.

This is not meant as a snide by the way, I’m dubious about the whole thing but respect people’s views. Just want to know the general opinion.

Personally, and I live in the middle of Liverpool with a large social group around me don’t know anyone, or know anyone who knows anyone who has passed directly from it. A neighbour of a friend did however she had a lot of other stuff going on and was near 80, but that’s it.

Again, not in this for a argument or to upset anyone who has been affected, just generally interested in the responses.
Yes I know someone who died from it.

aged 52 and left a wife and 2 children behind

Genuinely not being funny here, but I'd like to read this evidence if you've got a link as up to now I'd took it only as conjecture or very early findings.

The 250 days would match up to eight months to be fair.

Think @BlueToff may have posted it on here mate. If not I've deffo seen it somewhere was based on care/health workers if I recall correctly.

Does anyone know anyone who's had the oxford vaccine yet ? as there doesn't seem much going round in greater Manchester yet none in Gp surgerys up to now.
Gp wife works for can only give appointments (Pfizer) at the hub for Monday and Thursday last week they where given 180 slots in total .
Someone need to get there finger out and get this oxford vaccine to some surgerys so they can get on with it.

Walked up through the park, usual set of ten grocks on the bars etc no social distancing. Another group were playing basketball. Families and friends all mixing with no social distancing.

Walked up to the suspension bridge and Clifton and the downs were absolutely rammed, like it was a bank holiday. I'd say only about 30% were wearing masks and only the slightest nod towards social distancing was present.

Bristol just doesn't get it. Dark days are ahead.

Not just Bristol, its happening all over the uk. Seems like we have more idiots here than most I'm afraid

Its all about your age group really.

The majority of people who die are 60+ so if you are young you might not know many people whereas someone who is say 70 is much more likely to know multiple people.

I don’t know of anyone....I have heard of one person who had it and got over it....

Modelling saying 1 in 4 in Knowsley and 1 in every 2 1/2 people in Liverpool have had COVID.

Yet I know of exactly 2 people who've had it...

Just seems well off to me.
