Another u-turn coming in England...

And true to form Johnson the great procrastinator, lets others make the choice for him, even in public health crisis. A man no-one should follow. as leader.

"Johnson’s technique for dealing with problems is to let them run out of control, building to a point of sufficient crisis that delay is no longer viable. That way the choice becomes perversely easier because there are fewer options left. Wait long enough and there might be only one.
That is how he has dealt with Brexit.

He imagines that brinkmanship is a negotiating strategy to wring concessions out of Brussels, but in reality it is just a way to simplify the decision by eliminating options that needed time to develop. He lets procrastination do the heavy lifting. He can then tell himself (and his audience) that the final outcome, while not perfect, is the best available solution. And maybe it is.

But only because it is so late in the day and all the better solutions have long since expired.
It is a chaotic way to run anything: leaving it all to the last minute, relying on a critical mass of external pressure to get motivated. As a way of governing in a pandemic it is disastrous because there is no slack time between deadlines. The moment to make the tough choices is always now. The rate at which good options decay is exponential. The virus thrives on indecision. Johnson’s method is effective for one thing, though: it guarantees a sustained pitch of political drama, with the figure of the prime minister lit centre stage. It forces the nation to hang on his word, waiting for him to act, while the consequences of his inaction play out. That bathes him in an aura of power, but it is not leadership."

I don't think anyone would notice tbh, she lives not that far from me and her house is a bit of a dump tbh, it's on the road up to Horsham, often see her driving about in that ghastly bright pink Range Rover of hers, it's bloody awful.

Would you, though?

Just for the laugh?

Just thinking about all the posturing from politicians on both sides about the importance of education and I wonder what effort has been made since the first lockdown to get children ready to move their learning online. I would guess in the vast majority of cases there's been absolutely none, which suggests to me that making sure children have access to teaching isn't really that high on their priority list after all.

In Spain, I was teaching 6 online lessons per day to my Y4 class with full attendance and engagement. It wasn't ideal but it showed something could be done. It accelerated the way aspects of learning will go over the coming years and should be embraced. Again, another opportunity missed by this appalling government.

I guess she just didn’t have the “spirit of the blitz”. Honestly some of you in this thread are an absolute disgrace. Dismissing people with mental health issues as being upset they have to wear a mask. It’s pathetic. Absolute state of some of the boomers in here. Young people as a whole have sacrificed more than anyone during this whole thing and long term will suffer most of the consequences.
well said..I would now have given everything to be 28 yo in 1980s. Rather be penniless as hell than living like this.
