Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Just thinking about all the posturing from politicians on both sides about the importance of education and I wonder what effort has been made since the first lockdown to get children ready to move their learning online. I would guess in the vast majority of cases there's been absolutely none, which suggests to me that making sure children have access to teaching isn't really that high on their priority list after all.

In Spain, I was teaching 6 online lessons per day to my Y4 class with full attendance and engagement. It wasn't ideal but it showed something could be done. It accelerated the way aspects of learning will go over the coming years and should be embraced. Again, another opportunity missed by this appalling government.

None has - don’t forget, Dido Harding said publicly that they’d no prediction this would get worse in the winter.

More in line with the views of the Trade Unions than Starmer. Says it all.
Labour have been calling for full disclosure of the SAGE meetings on Education establishments being open. Something the Government are not willing to share as they play politics. . Labour seem to be broadly in agreement of closure.

This thread and the comments on the South African virus varient just shows how misinformation can be spread on social media.
People have made comments and even questioned the source. Apart from "some Oxford boffin" nobody has said where this opinon comes from and check whether it is a reliable source.
Won't be long before we're seeing the likes of " New Deadly African Virus Terror" and the likes.
It's so easy to spread panic.

Would you, though?

Just for the laugh?
I have actually briefly spoken to her a number of years back when i worked in a shop and she pulled up out front and came in thinking we sold candles and smelly stuff and when she came in she soon got a bit of a shock when she saw it was all bongs and pipes and skins and that sort of stuff. She seemed really nice and not like the person you see on the TV, and yes i probably would lol

Here's one for you lads.
In my workplace we have lads working there notice, three months, non essential staff,I would say?
Also with staff reshuffled lads are learning new skills.Essential ?
We also have a trainee manager shadowing the lad hes replacing, again essential?

It's abysmal. The last 4 months could have been used training staff and children on the likes of Microsoft Teams but instead most kids will be lucky if they get a 10 minute phone call every week.

As I said, teaching will be embracing more technology over the coming years. This was a chance to get ahead of the curve and make sure our kids had access to education in another lockdown. I'm convinced the Tories only look at schools as a childminding service that frees parents up to work. Only time they get worried is when that service isn't being offered.
