I just think it's barbaric. And shouldn't be encouraged.

I mean, if I go out on a walk, I have a snood so I usually have that pulled up - so I agree with the mask thing when walking.

But when I go on a run - different on the bike as I also wear said snood and I've hardly been out lately - I don't wear a mask. I wouldn't be able to breathe. However, I do keep my distance from people or stop so that we can keep away from each other on the path or whatever.
Yeah masking while heavily exercising is dangerous. You do the right thing. Think even in Spain its not mandatory while running jogging etc.

They shouldn’t, but I hope the astronomical cost (if all loans + other incomes are taken into account then it’s around £20 billion) of such support provokes a long overdue recognition that the current system is utterly unsustainable.

I think the amount that unis demand off students is atrocious. But I don't know who that's down to. Wasn't it Blair's government that raised the tuition fees (and they've obviously not been changed since)?

I didn't go to uni because I didn't need to. But I was also put off by the fact that when I went to sixth-form, in ,my first week it was all about pushing us to make our minds up on uni. Seemed daft to me, and loads of people only go because they don't have an idea of what else they should do.

Again though, I don't know if that's down to the unis themselves or government policy.

A curfew is currently operating here in France. 6pm to 6am. Many reason for going out exist but you have to carry a self certification for the reason.
Police and gendarmerie DO stop and carry out checks.
No problem in my village though, they're all in bed by 9pm.
wow didnt know its now 6pm.

Its basically when sun sets you go inside then in France.

Its actually something the Major government started with living assistance loans; Blair expanded them (and as a corollary reduced / ended maintenance grants) and brought in tuition fees. The Coalition government then ramped fees up massively, with the result we now have more than £100 billion in debt hiding away that people don’t think they have to pay back.

It was horrible. We weren't allowed to leave a tiny flat for all that time unless shopping for food and even then we'd often be questioned by the police/soldiers.

I think the UK needs a nationwide lockdown like last March with a huge emphasis on the vaccine roll out. Every day the PM and ministers should be pushing the limits with what they can do with this vaccine. It's our only hope.

I think that's what we'll end up with, in the end.

But the calls for no exercise and people being locked away - like you had to go through - is horrid.

Also, from a personal point of view, I would hope that the one household support bubble thing would stay open. I see my housemates and my mum and dad, that's it. Sometimes I help my mum out to care for my gran, take her her shopping or whatever (but we did that pre-pandemic).

Also masks to be worn all times outdoors in streets, transport etc.

The French do love their bits of paper and authorisations don’t they... does the virus stop spreading during daylight hours in France.....

I went for a walk onto the hills near to my home on the weekend. First time during the pandemic that I've been stopped by the police and questioned. I wasn't breaking the rules and was sent on my way.

The area had a fair few sledgers after recent snowfall and I can only assume they were there because of people traveling to the area. It was good to see police being proactive but at the same time they never asked me for any id or any proof of address/identity.

Ultimately the police have limited resources and with testing your eyesight as being a valid excuse for travel there's not much they can do.
