No.

We can point the finger of blame at those making the guidelines etc. as much as we want but we also need to look at our neighbours, the people down the pubs, the people at protests or secret raves or whatever and point the finger at them too.

We have never once needed the governments rules to tell us how to behave correctly during a pandemic.

I completely agree.
However, if people can’t be trusted to make the right decisions then they shouldn’t be allowed to have the right to make those decisions in the first place.

Who is keeping the covid factories open?

Who organised and created the rules for the pitiful November lockdown?

This government are accountable for it all.

But then you go down the whole "let's be ruled like China" route.

So be it!
I’ve given up caring about people’s rights when they care so little about everyone else.

I’m sure you’ll come back again with a further objection. Please don’t bother I’m done with this crap for the time being.

The authorities and selfish parts of the population all have blood on their hands. Let’s hope as few a people as possible are murdered by their actions/inactions during the coming weeks and months.

For some, not all.

We don't need the gov to shut down a pub to decide not step foot in it, do we?

Second wave started because the government opened every school in the country with essentially zero restrictions and at the same time decided to send thousands of students back to crammed student housing blocks with shared facilities.

Utter incompetence at every stage and its not down to people going a pub.

If you believe the state of COVID in this country is solely down to education being open then I can't help you.

Over 50% of cases are from universities or schools and these two caused the second wave.

Anyone who thinks pubs caused the second wave is clearly not looking at the data.

I'm not saying pubs are the cause I simply said stop blaming solely the government and start also blaming your fellow man who is actually out there spreading it.

Be interesting to see what comes of this National Education Union meeting currently in progress. Following it a bit on Zoom and looks like they will be “instructing” (is that the correct word?) their members to not return to work tomorrow.

the union my missus is in aren't supporting it (nasuwt).

Blair really is a horrible scumbag; he seems to be getting snippets of what’s happening and then putting them out there as if it’s his own idea to do them (see also the delays to the second dose vaccine idiocy):

Scumbag for making suggestions? I'd rather listen to him and have him in charge during the pandemic than Johnson

Just a final share for today.

A family friend went out food shopping just before the weekend. When they returned they were unable to get to their driveway due to the presence of 2 ambulances attending a neighbouring property.

The ambulances were there to take two elderly people who were struggling to breath to hospital.

It turns out that the elderly couple have Covid. On Christmas Day they had the whole family round... children, their partners and grand children etc. The numbers exceeded those allowed under the government guidance.

Hopefully this couple might not end up dead. However, it just goes to show how utterly stupid and selfish some people are. If nothing else, their selfishness has put additional strain on the NHS...which was completely avoidable.

it's highly unlikely they caught it on xmas day though. I mean it's possible but the incubation period and onset of symptoms tends to be a little longer than a week

I think that's largely because the Government have ballsed things up to the extent that the only option is to frantically jab our way out of the crisis.

Aren't France seeing cases around the same as us and they're yet to start vaccinating.

It's not defending this government but at this stage every country in the west is doing exactly the same thing.

And, as well as Aus and NZ have dealt with it, they'll be exactly the same when it comes round to getting people vaccinated too. Only way to beat this.

Track, test and trace isn't sustainable long term
