So Glasto gone now too.

Pathetic.

Honestly what's the point? We might as well all get it and just be miserable all year. Everything's getting cancelled (somehow the Reds will still win the league too).

The absolute panic this has caused is depressing and far more worrying than the actual illness.

It's 14 weeks away and they've canned it. 14. This thing will be over in 6 regardless of the government plans working or not.

If their plan works, the NHS will be able to manage it and life will be able to return to - relatively - normal. More people working from home etc, definitely, but a bit of normality.

If the plan doesn't work then I'm sad to say that by the end of April most people will have had it, have got through it and got an immunity or, sadly, died. And the proportion of people which die from it will still be very small - it's just obviously gonna be a lot more than if the gov's plan to spread out the impact works.

Yeah, who cares about a few thousand dying of this and the NHS being completely overwhelmed. Let's all just get it so we can go to a poncy music festival.

I've yet to read anything factual regarding this virus which causes me to be any or more concerned than I have been previously of the flu.

Went to the GP surgery this morning for my Warfarin blood test. It was like getting into Fort Knox. Only one patient allowed in at a time. Waiting area, which is normally very user friendly, with lots of pictures, children's play area, etc., was completely bare. Looked like they were selling up. Was hoping for another 'on benchmark' result which would mean 8 weeks before the next visit. Unfortunately, it was way over, so back again next week. Her indoors wants me to get one of these face masks. She said it will improve my looks.

I'm not really. It's my view based on how it's played out in other countries so far based on what I've read/watched.

If the gov's plan works then the 'curve' or whatever they're calling it will be spread out over weeks. They initially predicted 12 weeks off the peak (so early June). They said on Monday that they were wrong. The reason for that was because they haven't done enough tests here.

The new curve they showed was more around early May time that the peak was expected to hit - so six weeks. That's IF the social distancing measures and stuff all work like they should. Big if.

The whole point of the gov's plan is to keep the curve down to a manageable level and have the NHS be able to remain in control and, eventually, a bit of normality can resume.

Welcome to GOT Caprice.

The point would be that there is active vaccination for 'common flu' and yet there are still lots of cases of it occuring and almost every year the Health Service in the UK struggles to manage the impact of that.

There is no current vaccine for this, and that has the potential to impact on health and social care because of reduced resources and increased demand.
