I have, it’s not good to see a person go through that.

If the overweight had been strapped to treadmills back in march there'd be a lot fewer 'vulnerable people' to worry about today.

This isn’t hysteria. It’s not just excess deaths that we need to worry about. There is also an argument to say that the economy will be affected to a greater extent long term if we don’t control the virus. I’d imagine mental health would be greatly affected too in that environment.

It’s not quite as simple as ‘we can open the economy up and sure some old people will die but everyone else will be fine and rich’.

We could all end up much much worse if things are left alone.

I dont much care for the gym. Prefer racquet sports in the sports hall.

The people who get very ill are mostly in their 70s or older. Unfortunately getting them out of the nursing homes and into the gym probably wouldn't make a huge difference.

Sir Tom managed it. Knee replacements would probably have the nhs bankrupt if adopted widely though so yes given the circumstance scrap that idea.

Interesting you mentioned dietary consequences. One friend in late 30s and skinny tested positive and hes a vegan and big boozer. He eats processed linda macartney stuff a lot and anyway he came down with covid considerably badly for 2 weeks. What added to the situation is that his wife is a big david icke disciple who doesnt acknowledge the virus.

What added to the situation is that his wife is a big david icke disciple who doesnt acknowledge the virus.

Can people stop peddling ‘only old people, already ill people and fat people get ill from it’.
I’ve know 6 people to get it. One was my mother in law who is mid 60s. She was bed ridden for a month and can’t walk up a flight of stairs any more her breathing is that bad.
I know a triathlete and a yoga instructor who both got it in March, mid 30s and are STILL having bouts of fatigue and having to stay off work.
The other 3 (just had the flu and were really ill for a couple of weeks.
Only one was over 50. None were obese. None had underlying health conditions.
It may be more likely to affect the elderly and already sick. They might be more likely to die. But that’s not the full story. This has serious implications on a lot of people, no matter who they are.

This is the long covid situation. I know people whove been debilitated with M.E. in the past and to this day though viral infections so yes. I always considered them malingerers happy to get on sickness benefits but the widespread results of covid have certainly put that view into accute perspective.
