I would imagine she's in the minority if our sons school is anything to go by. He's got additional needs so I'm in regular contact with them and they're pretty open about the fact that understaffing coupled with the constant changes to what's being asked of them during this has left them in a mess.
I've said here previously that we fully appreciate how fortunate we've been with their school as they've been brilliant throughout.
Understandably, we know we're fortunate and I genuinely feel sorry and concern for you, your son and countless other families because most are not like it.
Now it's not a tested or entirely reliable system, but my wife was saying that they do the same yearly tests with their children across her primary schools.
They work out a scaled score and a large percentage of children have dropped between 5-15 points year on year compared to their previous results.
Their youngest children, five to seven year old children, are primarily working around the 70 mark or below, with average children being between 90-110.
Frightening stuff really when you consider the damage to the youngest children.
