Pfizer has responded to reports that its Covid-19 vaccine could run out after former health secretary Jeremy Hunt suggested they would run dry by February.

Johnson has just said 500,000 have now received their first dose of 800,000 we have in stock...

I suppose that depends on whether that’s 800000 in total (so 400000 first doses and 400000 second doses) or 800000 first doses.

Which is sort of irrelevant- he said they didn’t know about it until briefed Friday. They knew enough - the new variant, the increased risk of transmission - since at least Monday.

Now London and the South - East are in tier 4 mate Johnson will want to level the playing field even if infection rates aren't anywhere near as high in other parts of the country.

My missus had her mate who lives around London whinging the other day on the phone about having to go into tier 4, the missus was speaking to her again yesterday and she's now whinging that because they have had to go into tier 4 then the whole country should go into tier 4, it's the Southern mentality.

Cos unless I misheard him earlier, he was on about the fact they had been told why and how its changed on Friday.

If they don't it will be a disgrace. They have their names so if they don't turn up they should be fined or at the very least pay for the vaccine

I'll bet its a tiny number of people; after all there is a huge personal incentive to get it.

However if what @NilSatisOptimum says is true then expect a whole load of articles from the usual hacks on the usual papers saying people aren't taking it up so hundreds of thousands of first doses were wasted.
