Doing my level best to avoid it. Had a guts full a few months back.

But you are right. The message from a clearly annoyed Hancock on Marr this morning was pretty much on the nail. Marr was trying, as per, to trip a politician up. Hancock said this was out of control in the SE, and pleaded for folk to act like they have it.

Made perfect sense to me.
For sure. There's plenty to criticise the government about, and the fact that they knew about this virulent strain while having a pop at Starmer for wanting to do precisely what has ultimately been done deserve a lot of it, they're not here to nanny us and we all have to be accountable for our own actions.

That was what Hancock was trying to get over. They knew there was a spread, but didnt know why. The Bio folk had worked it out on Friday, pretty much an immediate response.

Like, we are all experts in covid stuff these days, but the folk who really know, who routinely alter the flu jab every year, were baffled. Until they isolated 9 out of 3000 proteins that make up a CV bug as changed, hence the increased spread it now has. They are confident the remaining 2991 proteins are the same, hence no increase in stuff like death.

With Marr trying to trip him up over taking the rise at PMQs was pretty low grade, imo.

Gonna be tough deciding what to do for Xmas this year - normally go both my family and the missus' but dont like the idea of visiting too many people but if I sack her family off all I'll get is grief off the missus so will be fun and games come Friday.

Not having a pop, I havnt a clue about your domestic situation.

But insert "Me and the missus both have CV. We are fine, but not sure if we should visit the parents"

Then work back from that.

I'll deffo be visiting my family (I stick by the rules like but im not one of those that think only COVID can kill someone as my arl fella could have a sudden heart attack tomorrow and I'll kick myself for not seeing him) but I would rather me just see my family and her go see hers with the lad coming with one of us but she'll no doubt moan as she loves Christmas and likes us spending it together.

So a no win either way really lol

Its certainly a no win! It sucks.

We all view this stuff from our own perspective, which is understandable. For months my perspective, and that of my family, (cos they know why), has been hermit like. I dont get it, Mrs R wont get it. Fully appreciate that millions cannot live that simply.

Does anyone know what's up with the vaccines and new variant?
Copied this from another forum, it’s from the BMJ
The new variant has mutations to the spike protein that the three leading vaccines are targeting. However, vaccines produce antibodies against many regions in the spike protein, so it’s unlikely that a single change would make the vaccine less effective.

Over time, as more mutations occur, the vaccine may need to be altered. This happens with seasonal flu, which mutates every year, and the vaccine is adjusted accordingly. The SARS-CoV-2 virus doesn’t mutate as quickly as the flu virus, and the vaccines that have so far proved effective in trials are types that can easily be tweaked if necessary"

We have put so much into protecting the parents over the last 9 months that it would be silly, hard as it will be, to throw it all away for the sake of one day. The threat is definitely not anything like over, so for us, the same resolve will regrettably be followed until it is over. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer for the parents as they will be at the front end of the queue so should be done before Easter. One last push.

How do you know that timeline of events?
