Indeed. Overnighting visitors parked all over the shop in our street. They clearly haven’t seen the news about some covid thing that’s doing the rounds.

Chinese like (even though I despise the regime) full lockdown for a month to finish this once and for all, (further finish with vax too in spring) or let the people live a freaking life, we may still be involved in a car crash tomorrow for all I know. Why kill ourselves slowly.

No one's said its gold standard. No country is. Every route taken is bad enough. I, for one, welcome a very harsh full lockdown for a month to minimise the cases, if you cant dare that, don't go for the half arsed option. And I'm anything but a right winger, I was the one who started Starmer thread here Lol

I Googled past epedemics. Do any of the the older guys remember Hong Kong flu around 1968. 4 million dead worldwide and about 80000 in the UK. No lockdowns,. Business carried on the same. Just some strong medical advice.
Think the 24 HR news and internet has caused panic about covid. The daily death toll,. What is that all about. Are they going to start daily death tolls for cancer,. Flu etc
I repeat covid is obviously a terrible illness for a minority of people like other illness but has it been worth trashing the economy. I believe it could hav been handled a lot better.
I do wonder if you said to Whitty and the others. Yes we will go into lockdown but you will be furloughed and lose yr employment will they have been so keen. Lots of eminent scientists have argured against lockdowns but are not any space to argue their point of view on the main news channels

You say 80000 dead like it’s nothing - they would have been the people that fought in the wars, that survived the Blitz, who sacrificed so much for the country. Also remember that in that same decade the same government was letting kids die in their school in Wales, had seen nothing wrong with thalidomide and would trash the railways and wrecked the economy anyway.

That's the diffference between 'observed' figures of uptake and 'extrapolated'.

"Extrapolated numbers are included in this report to provide a simplified estimate of the total eligible population and the total that would have been vaccinated if there was a 100% response rate. The extrapolated number of the eligible population is derived by multiplying the mean population based on observed data to the total number of practices. The extrapolated number on vaccinations is derived by multiplying the mean number of vaccinations to the total number of practices."

Basically, if all GPs would have responded to the survey the uptake over the last few years it would have looked like this below...

You’ve just posted something which shows in the previous five years it declined for two years in a row before increasing. I’m not sure what your point is as you seem to be arguing against your own statement that it has been rising every year for half a decade. It has not, regardless of whether you extrapolate the data or not.

Extrapolated data from surveys is by nature more prone to inaccuracy, the factual observed data shows a decrease in 2018/19 versus the year before in over 65s.

You’re wrong, it’s no big deal.
