You didn't read the article, did you? The argument is that systemic racism causes people to mistrust those in authority, including those in the medical profession, which in turn leads to anti-vax tendencies.
The same logic applies to many conservatives, who have been told they should also mistrust those in authority, and who are also more likely to have anti-vax tendencies as a result.
My missus' friends live London way, some of them think Boris is doing a great job in regards to Covid and when the government brought out the tier system they all thought it was a great idea, now they are going into tier 3 they are all up in arms, the missus was speaking to one of them last night and the girl was crying and kicking - off about it all on on the phone even though she backed the tier system, a case of it's a good idea as long as it's not me.

Well we are largely a Christian country - So I guess there's thatDoes anybody else think that, as a society, we are being a bit hypocritical too.
I mean, we've asked the Muslim Communities to obey covid restrictions during Eid and Ramadan. And the various Indian religions that celebrate Diwali to do the same.
But here we are, in the middle of a second peak in the pandemic, massively loosening restrictions so people can enjoy what is still effectively a Christian festival. It just stinks of double standards to me.
Hes gone to that "great conspiracy anomaly in the sky"His head fell off.

I read it Bruce. I thought Medical Racism is a convenient argument that suits the authors narrative. I think the likelihood is that the issue is a lot more complicated and there are many factors involved, of which systematic racism, which I agree exists within our society, is undoubtedly one. Just to pigeon hole it as racism though is not helpful. You didn't read the article, did you? I agree. That was one of a few occasions early doors when they should have ignored the advice coming from SAGE. But sadly there was a lack of leadership in our politicians to take stock of what was happening elsewhere and override the medical and scientific advice.I for one think that UK allowing flights from China and USA certainly exacerbated the situation.
Again, that wasn't what he was jailed for. He was jailed for potentially exposing an isolated population of people to a potentially lethal disease. Jetskiing across the water to visit your girlfriend isn't a criminal offence
I would say it's probably a multi-faceted issue tbh. The lack of faith in those in authority is sadly all too real, however.I read the article, but the author had already decided the outcome. Does your wife believe there is systemic racism in the medical sector ?....
We normally go away for Xmas and this will be our first at home for 7 years. Courtesy of no kids and our parents all having passed away. We're not travelling anywhere and are just celebrating Christmas at home mate, me, the missus and our lad. The missus was debating whether to invite her parents over but her parents are on the shielded list so she's now decided against it.
My favourite pandemic story yet. He thought the trip would take 40 mins. Imagine the state of him after 4 hours lol Then walking 15 miles. He is clearly a total danger and needs locked up longer if you ask me.For him to brave a four trip, across the Irish sea on a jet ski, in the middle of December, she must be a demon in bed lol
I agree, and didn't intend to use that article to suggest it was the only factor at play, but merely to say that many sections of society don't want this vaccine, and unless those issues are addressed it will always be difficult.I read it Bruce. The whole anti vax thing is a massive problem, particularly within the BAME communities as it has been shown that these are more likely to suffer serious covid symptoms. Hopefully a large part of the BAME issue can be overcome and it may involve trusted community leaders stepping up and supporting the vaccine. But there will always be individuals, of all creeds and races, that won't have it. Many of these will be Conservatives as you have pointed out, many more will be Labour, Green, Lib Dems, SNP etc.
