He literally posed more damage to more people in society than most criminals do - if not for the four hour open water jetski (which if it had gone wrong would have required a lot of rescue effort) and then walking around the island going to nightclubs. He even put his girlfriend at risk as well.

Bloody hell, he only met her in September.

Sounds a bit much to get his end away this. He probably should have been given longer, i could have some sympathy if he had stayed indoors with her but going out on the saturday evening and putting strangers into potential danger.

Has COVID ever stopped us at Christmas before though? No. So why now? It’s all scaremongering.

It's more the way the government are going about it all mate, it's almost like they're going "Here's a free hit, go and do what you want" then when infection rates soar over the Christmas period they'll turn around and blame the public because they didn't follow the rules.

absolutely daft, I'm not defending the bloke.

Just wondering if jail time is really the best course of action/use of resources.

"What you in for?"

"Jet skiing to see my bird in a pandemic."

If they'd have put London straight into T3 when the rest of the regions went into it, fair enough. You could have then seen the logic in it being in T3 and then the Xmas relaxation.

I find it funny that there's suddenly a huge issue over this Xmas break again now, though. I mean, it was always a bit daft, but it seems most people are now only kicking off because they're in London - so heading into T3 - and only now are seeing the fault with it.

My missus' friends live London way, some of them think Boris is doing a great job in regards to Covid and when the government brought out the tier system they all thought it was a great idea, now they are going into tier 3 they are all up in arms, the missus was speaking to one of them last night and the girl was crying and kicking - off about it all on on the phone even though she backed the tier system, a case of it's a good idea as long as it's not me.

Typical response of the "nimby, I'm alright Jack unless I'm affected" attitude infecting this country.
(just spotted the lesser spotted coronavirus flying south for Christmas....its OK to do what you like folks!!! Oh wait....)

the new strain is such utter bollocks it's laughable really. Like why have they had to use Porton down for it? hmmm

I'm anti lockdown but if it's really that bad then surely you can't allow the xmas easing. It's mental
Exactly, if the whole thing was that bad they would lock everything down completely, it’s a absolute farce.

Schools have still going on, bars/restaurants and town centres packed, supermarkets packed non stop since the start of the epidemic, bookies open, public transport packed. It’s all for

Get real mate, this is getting ridiculous now.

34 million people going into tier 3 in England, a new strain of the virus is identified, infection rates going up. The government "Nothing to see here, move along, go and travel all over the country and enjoy Christmas"
Does anybody else think that, as a society, we are being a bit hypocritical too.

I mean, we've asked the Muslim Communities to obey covid restrictions during Eid and Ramadan. And the various Indian religions that celebrate Diwali to do the same.

But here we are, in the middle of a second peak in the pandemic, massively loosening restrictions so people can enjoy what is still effectively a Christian festival. It just stinks of double standards to me.

Again, that wasn't what he was jailed for. He was jailed for potentially exposing an isolated population of people to a potentially lethal disease. Jetskiing across the water to visit your girlfriend isn't a criminal offence

Also part of of the charges against him was "“deliberate and intentional attempt to circumnavigate” the restrictions"

What was funny is the fella saying that he thought the journey would only take 40 minutes and not the actual 4 hours 30 mins it took.

We're not travelling anywhere and are just celebrating Christmas at home mate, me, the missus and our lad. The missus was debating whether to invite her parents over but her parents are on the shielded list so she's now decided against it.
