We are going to be wearing masks until 2022 at the earliest.
Based on what ?
If everyone who is eligible for the vaccine has had it by Summer, why would we all still be in masks ?

It’s bonkers. But in Wales, Drakeford has opted for a nationwide approach, so despite the fact that here in northwest Wales we have a fraction of the cases in the south, we have to put up with restrictions aimed squarely at controlling the virus in that region. Our area has a rate of 62 per 100,000 people according to government information. One of the lowest in the country and less than half for London. Obviously we are in tier 3...this is the madness that comes with the broad brush approach......

Its frustrating, more so for you with a business being affected, but its the Health Trust area that you are in that drives the tier rating, not your council or parish.
What does Leicester look like atm?

The city of Leicester itself is a shambles, has been all along and still sits at about 250 per 100,000. The region that was used before lumping everyone into Leicestershire sits at just over 100......it’s all about the granularity. Hackney and the city of London alone is 180. The groupings were done to allow London to be in tier 2 while having a broad brush tier 3 all the way across the Midlands and north. If they had used the geographical areas previously used during lockdown, many of these areas would rightfully be in tier 1 and most of London in tier 3....
You voted for them. Our area has a rate of 62 per 100,000 people according to government information. One of the lowest in the country and less than half for London. Obviously we are in tier 3...this is the madness that comes with the broad brush approach......
You voted for them.
They're the same one's who killed 75,000 people...presumably you didn't vote for that either?I did not vote for either PHE or Sage, nor did I vote for the civil servants who have drawn this nonsense up. The guy I voted for is doing everything he can to reverse this nonsense....however Hancock should be given a kicking....
Scientists advise, Ministers decide. I believe the concept is one of collective cabinet responsibility. Strange how the people at the bottom of the pile get the venom when it's bad news, as opposed to "Boris saves Christmas" headlines when it looks good.......I did not vote for either PHE or Sage, nor did I vote for the civil servants who have drawn this nonsense up. The guy I voted for is doing everything he can to reverse this nonsense....however Hancock should be given a kicking....

Correct. There is zero chance that if the OU/GS vax isnt safe that it will get approved.
I have no idea what sketchy data they have provided, but given that the development has been by Oxford University and a giant pharma, I am reasonably confident it will be robust.
The virus is a new one, but it isnt the first one.

So I misread the post when you said that you're going to hold out on getting the vaccine until you know you're getting the best one available? Sorry. My badPete, don’t be a moron, I’ve posted several times already that I’m not talking about vaccinating me.
Aaaaand we're swinging... back against the civil service:lol
There’s no one else to blame for this pete - the lack of effective public health teams, the failure of track and trace, the lack of capacity in the NHS and the lockdowns that are required because of all that. This is all the fault of the worst ten years of government we’ve ever seen. If the country survives the next five years it will be a miracle.
So the civil service has high standards and processes now? I mean, just so we're clear...
