Indeed. This woman is an idiot...but the damage that her public words could do could be hugely detrimental to both Oxford University and the U.K. pharmaceuticals. She should be prosecuted....

She should be purged! Desaparacido. She has committed treason against humanity. Oxford's reputation and its entire 900 year history is likely to fall because there is a low-level tussle about logistics of early-stage drug testing. This is the worst thing to happen to England and the world in the last 100 years. I am embarrased--really really embarrassed--for not realizing just how devastating her comments are. Thanks for making me aware of them with your subtle and measured attention to them. I guess the important thing is to not say something dramatic or ridiculous, but rather to make even-handed, proportional responses.

The reputation of U.K. science and it’s Universities, the standards and processes of our pharmaceutical companies and indeed our civil service and government are being trashed publicly by this woman. This will affect potential sales of a vaccine or indeed the take up of a vaccine. This may cost lives plus the livelihood of those working in the industry. This is serious stuff, not some political point scoring and if you cannot see that then I am sorry....

So the civil service has high standards and processes now? I mean, just so we're clear...

I have no time for people who don’t do what they said they would. The CS don’t really care who is in government, red or blue, they just do what they damn well please and if they screw it up just get on the merry go round and take up a job in a different dept and do exactly the same again. It’s about time that the CS faced accountability, which every other job, including politicians face. I honestly don’t give a damn about who is in power or that Patel is in charge, my whole professional life has been about delivering and getting shut of wasters like this guy, that’s why I’m upset, nothing political, just professional.....

Do you believe any credence is given to stuff like this? It's a bs quote amongst an ocean of them these days. I can't see Trump taking a vaccine from abroad anyway, it doesn't fit with the 'tremendous' work he's done, with the 'best doctors in the world' in the 'greatest country in the world' etc etc...
