Have to laugh at the people who will refuse the Oxford Vaccine when offered and try get moderna/Pfizer one privately - I mean you could die of a heart attack/cancer/Flu Pneumonia/Sepsis etc.

Covid isnt the only thing that can kill you. Seems the worlds completely lost their head with the pandemic.

I agree. However, that isn't the plan. As soon as the oxford vaccine is approved it;ll quickly be rolled out. THAT is a problem given how unconvincing the Oxford testing has been on older volunteers in their groups.
In Australia, though they've jazzed it up in fancy language, they're basically hanging on to see what happens in fhe UK

The city of Leicester itself is a shambles, has been all along and still sits at about 250 per 100,000. The region that was used before lumping everyone into Leicestershire sits at just over 100......it’s all about the granularity. Hackney and the city of London alone is 180. The groupings were done to allow London to be in tier 2 while having a broad brush tier 3 all the way across the Midlands and north. If they had used the geographical areas previously used during lockdown, many of these areas would rightfully be in tier 1 and most of London in tier 3....
What would they gain from doing this though? Is it not to do with other factors in addition to case rates? Eg hospital capacity, rates of change, local demographics, local public health directors informed opinion?

I don't see that they would put areas in to tier 3 just out of spite. Surely it wouldn't be worth the backlash, especially in Tory majority areas, where the peoples imperatives are important things like "freedom" and "business".

Lots of comments from key government members about how the vaccine won't resolve everything.

I can just see it being dragged out.

We all know that the vaccine won`t solve everything, as the virus is here to stay. But once enough people have been vaccinated and it hopefully it does it`s job, hospital admissions should become the exception rather than the norm and the same with people dying from it.

The flu kills roughly 11,000 people a year and hospitalises many more, hence why we have the flu vaccine. It`ll be the same with the jab against the Coronavirus.

I don`t know the exact figures, but many more people will be vaccinated against the Coronavirus, as opposed to the flu jab, so there`s no reason at all for us to be wearing masks etc once the majority of the country have been vaccinated.

Of course they wouldn’t do it out of spite. But by wrapping areas together it has created what we now have, and it also just happened to assist London getting into tier 2....

Considering what our alternative would have been to the current government I am reasonably happy with the majority of what they have done. But the 10pm thing, the specific closing of pubs and the tier 2 group restrictions with a substantial meal, all based on no evidence to show that they help, have been nonsensical, and whoever proposed them, Boris, Hancock, Whitty and co or whoever should lose their job.......

They`re inventing as many excuses as they can come up with to keep London out of Tier 3, when the reality is that it should`ve gone into Tier 3 a couple of weeks ago.

I read something yesterday, where they were basically saying that it was okay for the cases to rise in London, as they could cope, with the Nightingale Hospitals etc.

It really does seem to be a different set of rules depending on where you live.
