If people weren't dying however , there would be no lockdowns or measures in place.

People get sick all the time. There are far worse out there as well that has never warranted a world wide vaccine ambition.

The death aspect is very much the focal point for any country, which warrants the restrictions , measures and lockdowns and desire for a vaccine.

For example the flu can have very similar pneumonia style side effects for 'long term ' issues. It can have the same effect on the same groups at risk and the vaccine is what keeps that in check.

No deaths and we aren't locking countries down. Never have done before never will. People dying of said virus however , all of this is in place to prevent that happening.
What about the hospitalisations though? Isn’t that really leading the lockdowns?

Hospital figures - 238 deaths were announced today, down 146 on yesterday and down 35 on last Sunday. 195 deaths were in English hospitals, down 120 on yesterday and down 13 on last week with 187 occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average falls to 343.29

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 231 deaths were announced today, down 166 on yesterday and up 16 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 428.57

For the 60 day cut off, 249 deaths were announced today, down 190 on yesterday and up 20 on last Sunday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 474.43

There is always a flux of inpatients , especially during the winter. We have never changed anything over the winter months for example to try and alleviate that and from my own experience, arrow park was full new year in terms of people dying. It's a common thing to have this influx.

Or for a long time , again through personal experience the royal has ebbed and flowed from full capacity to less full. We get notifications (or did before march) on the level of bed space etc and at times the level was at red with an urgent call to discharge people.

People dying is very much a driving force. Sick people can recover from a virus but if people are dying from it, it creates a crisis that needs measures put in place.

Dont think it goes away.

It will be more of an occasional bonfire instead of an inferno, but if anyone reckons this is done after the vax(es), well, I hope they are correct. But fear they are not.
Smallpox is the only pandemic to ever be totally eliminated, in history we have stopped a grand total of one of these virus.
I could have this wrong if anyone knows better, but I'm fairly sure without a google of this.
This virus is staying, especially when you look at the shops and bars in Liverpool yesterday

I have a weird thing with needles where the feeling doesn’t bother me but I can’t watch it go in and I can’t watch bloody being drawn. I also (and this sounds insane) always feel like I can hear my bloody being pulled out of me so I won’t ever given blood. Freak me out.

Would have no issues with COVID vaccine though ignoring the inevitable day or two of feeling bloody awful after it.
I thought I was the only one! I have blood tests every few months for my thyroid and I have to look away every time.

I have difficulty understanding why the government produce figures per 100,000 based on previous weeks numbers. It’s a simple calculation and could be done daily as our population is not a wildly fluctuating number.......

Recording of new infections/deaths is not reliable enough to report on a day by day basis. Hence why figures always drop on a Monday and bounce up on Tuesday/Wednesday

I appreciate that, but they always have the previous 7 days info, and calculations should be done on that, not on 7 days up to a final date 5 days earlier, which is what they appear to do. The ups and downs of numbers makes no difference to the 7 day calculation....

Been surveying the pictures andcreports of the young partying in Covent garden Nottingham and Harrods etc. Young has a very wide definitions these days 50s 60s and 70s some of these selfish young people...

Problem with these current restrictions is you still get loads of pubs and restaurants that basically completely disregard the rules.

I heard of quite a few pubs who were allowing you to stay all night if you buy a meal. Surely it must be quite obvious that groups of 6 men in their 40s don't live together?

If people stuck to going with who they live with they might stay open but you can see how the virus ends up spreading. I went to our local at the weekend and it was well managed. In fairness it was basically empty so I doubt they are doing particularly well.

What you have to remember here man is that to the pub itself, they don't care if those bunch of 40 year olds live together or not.

What a significant amount of landlords will care about right now is making money and selling beer. Doesn't matter who to and doesn't matter if it's to the same people. Those men there all night are the ones emptying the barrels.

Not all of them will be like that as you saw yourself. But sometimes opening a pub and adhering to the rules strictly is more expensive in the long run than staying closed.

It's why they have been basically closed in Wales until the 17th... It's party month, lost count how many times been asked about where Christmas party is at this year.
Certainly sparked off once the first vaccine was coming on line by the Government desperate to pump out triumphantlism, trouble is they have politicalsed all that now.
For once they really should have left it to the science...
