Well eventually everyone will/can have the vaccine so that does eliminate it. All I said was there’ll still be some restrictions in place when it starts coming out not sure what part of my post you find issue with.

Dont think it goes away.

It will be more of an occasional bonfire instead of an inferno, but if anyone reckons this is done after the vax(es), well, I hope they are correct. But fear they are not.

Completely untrue since 1. It’s not 100% effective and 2. There’s no chance everyone will get it even if it was. My point is you said restrictions will be in place because over 60 isn’t the only at risk population in reaction to someone suggesting they should be removed after the high risk population was inoculated. I agreed with you some risk persists true but shared it would be very minimal based on the data. So what I’m still looking for an answer or opinion on is when you and others think it’s good enough to lift them.

You’re awfully defensive when challenged even a little bit...

But I just said there’ll still be some restrictions. I never said I wanted them there, I never said when they’ll be lifted, I simply said there will be because there will be. At least in my country.

I’m not being defensive just wasn’t sure what you were getting at from the start. You didn’t use the word ‘when’ at all in your first post.

No but I think it’s eliminated as much as it can be if we could all get the vaccine. Not small pox eliminated but getting there.

I think it goes away assuming the vaccine is effective, 95% means it will run out of hosts quite quickly.

I think a one off tax grab on anyone or any business that has increased their profits as a result of the pandemic should indeed be considered....
Be very difficult to implement is I’d have thought. People could argue their increase in profits was due to good business practice rather than the pandemic. Would be better off requesting that the wealthiest individuals donate to a Covid relief fund but generally people didn’t get rich by giving their money away.
Could just go through the Times Rich List and apply a one off tax to everyone on it but the push back would be immense and I’d imagine a lot of them are Tory backers.
Would be a popular policy among the electorate but is unlikely to be implemented here and if it was proposed would just be lip service as it’s never going to happen unfortunately.

You’re focusing on risk of death only. That isn’t the only risk of the virus.
If people weren't dying however , there would be no lockdowns or measures in place.

People get sick all the time. There are far worse out there as well that has never warranted a world wide vaccine ambition.

The death aspect is very much the focal point for any country, which warrants the restrictions , measures and lockdowns and desire for a vaccine.

For example the flu can have very similar pneumonia style side effects for 'long term ' issues. It can have the same effect on the same groups at risk and the vaccine is what keeps that in check.

No deaths and we aren't locking countries down. Never have done before never will. People dying of said virus however , all of this is in place to prevent that happening.
