Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Ha. Like I could give a flying one anyway. But unlike you I do try and keep threads on topic when I can.

I wouldn't have asked if I didn't expect an answer. I wasn't looking to continue the argument, just asking for evidence to support a previous statement you made. i.e that the Welsh restrictions were not effectively the same or very similar to England's current tier 1 restrictions. It's upto you whether you respond or not, but if you don't I'll take it as an acceptance that you couldn't find any differences ;)

Well you do seem to keep coming back for more, with this post as an example so saying you couldn't give a flying one seems a bit of a fib. Also it should be pointed out that your valiant attempts to keep threads on topic do seem to follow someone criticising (even correctly) the right wing; when this doesn't happen you don't seem to pop up?

Since you asked, though:

Wales post-lockdown:

i) don't go into each others homes except in very limited circumstances
ii) rule of four when you do meet people outside (not counting kids under 11)
iii) face coverings in all indoor public places
iv) pubs / restaurants can open, but with table service only
v) 15 people can meet for exercise classes etc indoors, 30 outdoors

England Tier 1 (at the time):

i) you can go into each others homes, but the rule of six applies
ii) rule of six outdoors too (unless an exemption applies)
iii) face coverings where indicated by signs
iv) pubs / restaurants can open, but food/drink must be consumed whilst seated
v) organized exercise can take place, no limit outdoors but six indoors

i) Actually in Wales a two household bubble is allowed, which is probably equivalent to the rule of 6 in England given that includes children of all ages.
ii) I hope this was an accidental slip on your part but the rule of 4 in Wales also applies to pubs restaurants and other public inside venues. It isn't just outdoors. Also doesn't include children under 11. So again, when you factor in the England tier 1 rule of 6 includes children, then there is very little difference.
iii) In England, the only public indoor space where masks are not compulsory are in schools for students over 12, where the rules are left to the individual head teachers to employ. Again, no significant difference.
iv&v) No essential difference in the rules.

So yes. I stand by my statement that the restrictions were essentially the same as England Tier 1.

And you'll probably find that the reason I don't criticise the right wing posters on this forum is because I have them all on ignore.

But we aren't learning from it by having celebratory statues and buildings, quite the opposite. Learning from it would be having it as part of the curriculum as to how badly we behaved towards others even in the 20th century. Our great country was responsible for millions of deaths and untold suffering.

Thats rubbish mate - so what is Auschwitz then? By your logic its a celebratory building considering it gets as many visitors as the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty does...

Off Topic
Such a terrible comparison but I think you know that already. You forgot to mention the pyramids

Its not really - who decides what is just a historic statue/building and what is a celebratory statue/building?

As usual history becomes politicised when its something that should simply be learned from. Not everyone reads books or is into academia or even watches intensive documentaries, others learn through other ways and if statues/monuments/buildings offer a way to educate then im all for it.

The lads example of Germany hiding all their Nazi history for me isn't a way of saying sorry its a way of trying to airbrush history they are rightfully ashamed of - but it happened and relics of that should remain in order for future generations to learn about and from it.

As I said during the BLM protests, smashing statues of slave traders to pieces doesnt change how BAME are treated in society today its an empty token that is politicised in order to try politically correct history as it were.

Hospital figures - 369 deaths were announced today, up 8 on yesterday and down 49 on last Friday. 274 deaths were in English hospitals, down 21 on yesterday and down 64 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 346.14

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 504 deaths were announced today, up 90 on yesterday and down 16 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average falls slightly to an even 438

For the 60 day cut off, 560 deaths were announced today, up 88 on yesterday and down 8 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average falls slightly to an even 483

Has anyone who doesn't live or work in Liverpool been able to use the mass-testing service?
Originally from Liverpool, but live in Newcastle now and I'm planning on visiting my parents soon with the kids, so they are part of the "grandparent support bubble", but for all our safety, I think getting covid tests would be ideal just to be sure regardless of how safe we've all been

That's brilliant. Carry on like that and you'll be in tier 1 on review
Fanciful thinking. The likelihood is that it'll be on the rise again and will need capping with another shut down of the whole of hospitality. Merseyside will go into Tier 3 in January, IMO.

I can only speak from my own experience mate, but when I had mine done at a drive thru one, they never asked me where I was from.
