Can ski in Scotland, can ski in Wales.

But anyway, off topic, just find it weird when people hate on the UK and mostly because they live in a city.
Well, as I said, almost non-existent. I hail originally from North Wales and in theory, you could hike and ski, but the number of days where that's possible is very slim. Barely any snow in snowdonia last winter. Skiing in Scotland is very hit and miss. But both areas are very beautiful nonetheless. Agreed though, UK has many great places, lovely coast etc etc. Personally I'd rather spend a weekend in Liverpool or York than in Paris or Marseilles. Yeah off topic but that Williamson is a poor language removed!

It was just a silly comment. He didn't know how our regulator had carried out their checks, so he shouldn't have been commenting. But it's not a big deal really. I doubt it will have any effect on the attitude of the British public towards vaccines.
Now he's apologised I tend to agree. Had he not, the anti vaxers would have been all over it Tim.

Hated Paris everytime I’ve been. Barcelona as well.

Everytime I go away on a city break I always look at cities that aren’t popular tourists attractions. Vilnius in Lithuania is probably my favourite trip I’ve been on in recent years. Brilliant place.

Beautiful city. Agree with you on that.

I get this all the time cos I am very anti-tory..."why do you hate the country so much.."

Simple truth is, if the tories had not caused hundreds of thousands of austerity deaths over the last ten years and had not handled this pandemic embarrassingly poorly, I would have no issue with them.....

Boris now pulling the rug from the rest of Europe and the US by chucking the vax out ahead of obvious protocol, in order to look like some sort of fat, toff saviour, is disgusting. It's cheap and shameful. He has messed this up so much but using this vax to look like GB father Christmas.... disgrace

Im on about people jumping on the UK any opportunity they get because of Imperialism yet soon as Nazism or the gulags or Chinese reducation camps are mentioned its "oh oh that was in the past" "oh oh the Chinese aint THAT bad"

Its hilarious.

Straying a bit off topic but imo, Chester and Arles are far too different to compare. Chester has better pubs and the medieval rows are unique.

They are, but Chester should have world class Roman things as well - they’ve still not done anything with the amphitheatre apart from turning half of it into a park, the collection that’s currently in the Grosvenor is in a building that’s too small and not conveniently sited, and (worst of all) the ruins of the baths complex were buried so they could put up the car park.

Always enjoyed Chester but yeah, the Roman stuff is a farce.

Not worth seeing. Beautiful by the river in the summer though.

Paris is great if you avoid the obvious tourist spots. There’s a fantastic walk from Montparnasse station to Chatelet (via the Pont Royal and then the Jardin du Palais Royal) that I try to do every time I’ve come home that way.

I am guilty of this but for good reason, it really blows their heads. My gammon pub mates are in complete denial about "great" Britain and we got here. What made us great made others suffer.

I love my country but am well aware that we have many wrongs to right.

Every country was upto no good back then and if we weren't the conquerors we would have been the conquered had the likes of India had the means/tools to have sailed over here and taken our resources.

Sadly it was a very Dog eat Dog world back in those times - doesn't make it right of course but I have nothing to feel ashamed about when it comes to Empire/Imperialism.

Back on topic (sort of), how are holidays abroad allowed if Manchester airport is in tier 3? I’m reasonably intelligent but I can’t get my head around this and multiple websites don’t seem to answer this question. I noticed the Manchester airport departures board just now is showing flights departing to the Canaries etc (jet2, Tui etc). So clearly lots of people are going away on those flights from Manchester today. Must be “on business” lol

I live in North Wales and so, technically, can now travel to England. So I could fly out of Liverpool but not Manchester? Or can I? I’m confused.

THat is their stock response! The Nazis could have used that same excuse in the Nuremberg trials I guess..

To add to this, we don't appear to feel shame though, we STILL celebrate the people who made money from the Empire and slavery. After the war, the Germans removed every trace of Nazism and Hitler, there are no statues or street names, here we still have EMpire worship all over the place and the people who come from those countries walk among it, while it celebrates their people's conquerors and enslavers. Its nuts
