Arsed? Grown ups shouldnt be playing games with people's lives over this.

He's a scientist, he should know better. He came out and stated baldly the UK "rushed" it.

He's rightly apologised. The idiot. Untold damage from that petulant comment.
With no hair ‍... shocking behaviour

Dont see whats wrong with bigging up your country.

People like that woman are only happy when they are slagging us off or flogging herself over our antics hundreds of years ago.

Country would be a better place if we weren't such a miserable self hating bunch.

There is a difference between saying ‘we are great’ and saying ‘we are better than Belgium and France’.

The latter is just little man syndrome which we’ve had since the empire was dismantled.

Of course we’ve got some amazing people in this country. We lead the world in quite a few things.

But highlighting our many flaws isn’t self loathing at all. It’s trying to make things even better.

The ‘we won the war’ stuff is like when West Ham fans say they won the World Cup, the flag waving ‘great’ Britain stuff is embarrassing because it misses the point. And it’s always from the same people who care about the monarchy and flags.

I’ve got no problem celebrating Shakespeare or hawking or Hockney or William Blake or whoever. We should be proud of our achievements.

It’s amazing that we’ve sorted the vaccine, it’s an incredible achievement of science.

But to then say ‘it’s because we are better than Belgium and France’. That stinks of inferiority.

Absolutely, plus it’s dead wrong. I defy anyone to spend five minutes walking around the centre of Montpellier on a warm summers day and think that the UK is best.

Not really; it’s not just about the heat.

Unless people prefer town centres that are dirty, filled with chain stores selling tat and bad architecture with really bad public transport - in which case then yes, the UK is best.

There are many beautiful places in the UK as much as there are many horrid places in France, Spain, wherever.

I much prefer the UK to those countries.

There are, but there could be many more here. Chester, for example, should have been like Nimes or Arles. It isn’t and is half the city it should be.

Why would he be bitter about it? I'm not American but if there is any body I'd be looking to sign off on a drug its the FDA.

They are all looking at the same data and doing the same processes to make sure its safe so to say Faucci has no clue what the process for the UK to approve is just stupid quite frankly.
The fact he has backtracked and now apologised proves you are wrong and Tubey is spot on.

His comments were totally irresponsible given his position and the already high levels of anti vaccine tensions. It could have completely undermined the vaccine program in the UK

At least he has apologised

Straying a bit off topic but imo, Chester and Arles are far too different to compare. Chester has better pubs and the medieval rows are unique.

It was just a silly comment. He didn't know how our regulator had carried out their checks, so he shouldn't have been commenting. But it's not a big deal really. I doubt it will have any effect on the attitude of the British public towards vaccines.

Is that not speculating on peoples preference though? Some people prefer colder climates.
You can go skiing in France and in the UK its (almost) nonexistent. If snow and cold is your thing, which it is for me during the winter, I'd say France edges it. Anyway, both have pros and cons!

To someone visiting from abroad Chester will be just as beautiful as something in france or wherever they’re from.

Look at our manager for example. He’s completely blown away by Crosby of all places.

The coast from Crosby up to formby is genuinely stunning and rivals anything europe could offer.

There’s some great places up here. What let’s this country down is the mentality of its people.

Little englander mentality that seeps through the country looking to create conflict and rivalries with countries based on events from absolute decades ago. It’s pathetic and now we have a government that enables this type of thinking it’s only going to get worse.
