“a few people”

And you have the nerve to call others sociopathic and whine about Tory death cults. Maybe if you weren’t such a self absorbed fat ass who actually visited a gym once in a while you’d be in better shape to fight off any disease that came your way.

I dont fear death.

If I die, I die, my biggest fear in life is somebody I love dying.

Soz for having compassion for others.

I actually think the biggest thing I’ve taken away from this pandemic is just how low down altruism is on a list of someone’s personality traits. Like I’d say it’s rock bottom. I know we’re a selfish species but my God this thing has shone a light on it.

This world is a cesspit.

I watched some rank film called Greenland the other night, I was praying for the "extinction event".

But then, look all through history, the human race is horrid, just horrid.

You have compassion for others but are accepting that in order to defeat COVID people will have to die.

Well at least you’re honest. Unlike Davek who scurries off whenever questioned about it.

But if you’re against lockdowns aren’t you also accepting more people will die? What’s the real difference. For or against lockdowns there are consequences.

Let me guess... you think by staying indoors because you have the privileged position of being able to work from home you’re doing something really altruistic?

Or do you actually have to leave your home to go to work?

My job is half & half but thank you for confirming my altruistic side doing all I can to not accidentally kill people.

Human suffering happens every second of every day mate, honestly, if you think about it, it would consume you, I think we all turn a blind eye to most of it, we have to, you cant carry all of the world's ills on your shoulders, no man, woman or cat could.

But I'm a simple man, I can only deal with things I can touch and we get a daily update on how many people Cov19 kills.

The other factors, we cant see, we cant touch, but we know its happening, but sadly "we" have a choice and its to save the most lives we can. Then, hope we can prevent the tail spinning any further and try and save the "others".

It shouldn't be about us and them, it should about US, but that's the way of the world, sadly.

That’s the thing... I’m not against lockdown. Up to a point. The fundamental issue for me is this. One thing that is killing people is a naturally occurring phenomena- a virus. It is killing people in numbers that mean we can’t just do nothing.

However if the solution is to implement measures that also kill people (in admittedly less numbers) then I think that’s just... a bit mad isn’t it? And then you get the usual suspects in here who shut any rational debate down for reasons I don’t really understand. If you can accept that people dying not from the virus but from the measures and decisions we take as human beings is an unfortunate necessity then that’s fine. It’s not a position I personally think is acceptable.

But like it’s sound to debate, I’m not roid raging (I promise). I just think this is a conversation which is uncomfortable for people to have now as obviously everyone is really fixated on COVID and the thought that the measures we are taking are doing quite a lot of harm is not something people want to think about.

What possible solution aside from lockdown did we have that could reduce COVID deaths but also doesn’t possibly harm some in other ways?

Outside of a vaccine I can’t think of one.

This is fair. And I cannot argue as like you say, we have the COVID data given to us every day. The effects I’m talking about are underlying ones, mostly hidden from the public forum at this moment in time. Therefore I can only speak anecdotally, or reference individual cases that are reported on. But against the collective COVID data I see how they may seem almost insignificant at this point. But I’m not just saying it to be contrary or to argue the toss- one death caused by lockdown is one death too many. I stand by that point. It’s not a trick to ask someone if they share that sentiment.

I only hope that in the long run the “other” fallout from the lockdown is as minimal as possible. Only in time will the truth of that be found out
