Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Not speaking on behalf of Pete - but a lot of older pubs just don't have the facilities to offer food. My local (which is very old and very small) rigorously adhered to government guidelines throughout, but doesn't have kitchen facilities so has been shut for months - until it inevitably closes down I guess

Mission accomplished for the Tories

Yeah it isn’t as simple as sticking a deep fat fryer in and ‘hey presto’. Pubs need to have proper kitchens which have been signed off by H&S before they can serve food. Plenty wouldn’t be able to meet the basic requirements for anything above a 1 on the hygiene standards (stuff like ventilation to a kitchen if preparing hot food) to make it even viable.

We have the facilities, but everyone does it. When we opened we asked many people what they wanted, and they didn’t want a restaurant, just a really good pub. But as I’ve said, it’s the no mixing that will kill the pubs in tier 2 as they will either lose their drinking groups of friends or quickly run out of tables with one person sat at each.....they knew what they were doing with these regs, keep the pubs closed.....

No idea, but that seems to be what they’re trying to do, along with breweries and the whole supply chain.

The lost tax revenue will be eye watering, as well as the unemployment.
The closer they can get to effectively writing off some of these pubs as viable businesses, the quicker they can sell them off for housing.

Should be stated, not all restaurants serve muck, there are some really lovely places to eat out in the city and I’m sure like previous they will have the right protocols in place

That said, I have no plans to actually go sit in one for the foreseeable nor go drinking in a pub

Who's forcing you to go Dave?
I didn't say anyone was. Im cautioning against it.

All over the world restaurants have been identified as Covid19 spreaders. Just because this murderous government wants to re-open them in this region at the drop of a hat to get some revenue in doesn't make them less of a problem.
